Deputy CM for @AngieNixon,
Co-Founder & Frm ED of @LeadersWeDeserv, Fmr CM for @MaxwellFrostFL, 2023 @TheAAPC Campaign Manager of the Year, @berniesanders alum
Was such an honor to work for @iElijahManley and @OliverALarkin as a senior advisor. Can’t wait to see the incredible impact they’ll have on Florida and our country in the years to come.
I am so full of gratitude for what our campaign accomplished for South Florida. We built a popular movement and organizing infrastructure that will outlast one single campaign. Over 500 volunteers. Nearly 23,000 donors. Over 40,000 doors knocked and over 750,000 calls. 16,284 South Floridians who cast their votes for our campaign.
Thank you to all of our volunteers, donors, voters, and everyone who believes South Florida is worth fighting for. We did this for the community and the people that we love, and we made the rest of the country take notice.
It was an honor campaigning by @AngieNixon’s side in the homestretch of this primary campaign, and I am overjoyed that Floridians have chosen her as the Democratic nominee for United States Senate. A working class mom of five. A union organizer. And yes, a democratic socialist. Her victory has buoyed my spirit and so many among our campaign tonight.
Our movement has never been about one person or one election. It is about building a popular mass movement for the issues that make a material difference in people’s lives: Medicare for All. A living wage of $25 an hour. Universal childcare. Paid family and medical leave. Free college. A Green New Deal. Abolishing ICE. Abolishing college loan and medical debt. Affordable housing. Unions for all. Ending U.S. military aid for genocide, apartheid, and war crimes so we can invest our taxpayer dollars in our communities where they belong.
I am so proud of what we’ve accomplished, and I don’t feel an ounce of regret. This campaign has changed my life. Thank you @BrowardDSA, @MiamiDSA, @PalmBeachDSA, and @DemSocialists across America.
Thank you to all of our endorsers—the organizations, unions, and individuals who lent our campaign your support and solidarity. Challenging entrenched power is never easy. I hope we honored your support with the disciplined and vigorous campaign that made your investments of time, energy, resources, and political capital worthwhile.
Earlier this evening, I called Rep. Moskowitz to congratulate him on his renomination and shared my support to keep FL-25 blue in November to help win a Democratic House majority and remove Mike Johnson as House Speaker. Our points of disagreement are strong, but my desire to keep this seat out of Scott Singer’s hands is stronger. I hope our nominee will do what is necessary to welcome our coalition into his campaign to earn every Democratic vote possible.
Florida has an opportunity to make history in November when we send the incredible Angie Nixon to the U.S. Senate, and I look forward to spending the days between now and November 3 working to make that happen. She is truly an inspiration.
The work has only just begun. Before I was a candidate for Congress, I was a volunteer, an organizer, an activist. And someday, the seeds our campaign planted will blossom with a new generation of candidates grown from the ranks of the grassroots organization we’ve built.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who shared our belief that Florida is not a punchline, but a place full of working class people who are deserving of dignity, respect, and representation.
We will draw from this deep well of love in the months ahead for our strength and nourishment as we move ahead to transform our state and the United States of America.
Solidarity forever. A better world is possible. ❤️🌹🇺🇸
February 14th 2025, Oliver Larkin got angry enough to make a 10 minute video about how bad of a congressman Jared Moskowitz is
Larkin is now the DSA candidate running to primary him in FL-25 on August 18, in 5 days
the scariest part of this Anthropic story is what it implies about the timeline and I think most people are completely missing it
Anthropic built a model called Claude Mythos that found thousands of zeroo day vulnerabilities across every major operating system & every major web browser entirely on its own without huuman steering
it it found a 27 yo vulnerability in openBSD which is considered one of the most security hardened OS on earth, a 16 yo vulnerability in FFmpeg in a line of code that automated testing tools had hit 5 million times without catching it & it autonomously chained multiple linux kernel vulnerabilities together to escalate from regular user to full system control, this is the kind of work that used to require elite nation-state level hackers working for months
and here’s what should keep you up tonight
Anthropic is so terrified of what this model can do offensively that they made 3 unprecedented decisions simultaneously, they decided to never release it publicly, they contacted the US gov before publishing anything & they formed a coalition called project glasswing with apple/Google/ microsoft/amazon NVIDIA & 40+ other companies to use Mythos exclusively for defense, when the company that built the model is too scared to let it out of the lab that tells you everything about what we’ve crossedd…
but I think the real story that absolutely nobody is discussing is the second order implication, if anthropic built this then google deepmind can build it, if Google can build it China can build it, if China can build it , every state actor on earth will eventually build it, anthropic chose responsible disclosure but that choice is a luxury of being first
the next team that reaches this capability level might not make the same choice and once a model like this leaks or gets independently replicated every piece of software on earth becomes a potential attack surface
and connect this to the Google quantum paper from last week, quantum computers that can crack BTC in 9 min AND AI models that can find zero days in every operating system autonomously, both arrived in the same month, we’re watching the entire security infrastructure of human civilization get challenged from 2 completely different directions simultaneously
I genuinely think we just entered a new era where the offense-defense balance in cybersecurity has permanently shifted, the window between a vulnerability existing & being discovered just went from years to minutes and the only thing standing between the current internet and total chaos is that the people who built this capability happened to be responsible about it, that is an incredibly thin line to bet civilization on
one last thing that I keep thinking about… mythos scored 93.9% on SWE-bench verified & 77.8% on SWE-bench pro, it outperforms every model ever built at coding and reasoning by a massive margin
anthropic built built the most powerful AI model on earth and chose to lock it in a cage because its offensive capabilities are too dangerous…
Mzrc Andreessen declared AGI is here 3 days ago to pump his portfolio, meanwhile the people actually building the most advanced systems are too afraid to release them, that contrast tells you everything about who understands what’s happening and who is performing for an audience
No S&P 500 company has EVER reduced its workforce by this large a percentage. This should be the lead story on every front page around the world tomorrow. AI is very possibly the most important issue humanity has ever faced.
A cascade of crippling mass layoffs is about to upend people's lives, families, and communities over the coming months and years. The foreclosure crisis of 2008 will pale in comparison to what's coming.
It is not inconceivable that we will see over 10% unemployment by the end of the year. 20% could follow shortly after.
Block's stock is up over 20% since this news. Wall Street just sent a message to every publicly traded company in America: if you want to significantly raise your stock price, do mass layoffs. At the very least, that is the message that every major CEO will hear.
This is only the beginning. We are not ready. Our politicians need to wake the fuck up, and fast. The speed of what's coming is going to be incomprehensible.
It is ignorant, destructive, and irresponsible for any public figure to be downplaying this news and how powerful and deeply disruptive this technology will be.
Given all that, there are three bottlenecks that will slow this down and buy us some time:
1. Very few people, as a percentage of the population, actually know how to harness the power of AI. Very few companies understand how to implement it in a fully productive way yet. But that is changing fast, because what is now a competitive advantage will very soon become a competitive necessity. We are at that tipping point right now.
2. A large percentage of the population still believes AI is too frequently wrong to trust. That perception is outdated. AI has advanced at a staggering pace in just the past several months and weeks. And it is getting meaningfully better, essentially, every day. Once more people experience what it can actually do, adoption will rapidly accelerate.
3. Running AI agents at scale is still expensive. Depending on the task, an AI agent can still cost more than the human it would replace. But that gap is closing fast. Advancements are making it cheaper almost weekly while simultaneously making it exponentially more capable. The moment that line crosses, the economics will demand that workers be replaced. And what makes rational sense for an individual company will be absolutely devastating when it's happening everywhere at once.
While these bottlenecks persist, we need to use every precious moment we have to address this looming crisis. Waiting for the effects of AI to fully take hold will be catastrophic.
we're making @blocks smaller today. here's my note to the company.
####
today we're making one of the hardest decisions in the history of our company: we're reducing our organization by nearly half, from over 10,000 people to just under 6,000. that means over 4,000 of you are being asked to leave or entering into consultation. i'll be straight about what's happening, why, and what it means for everyone.
first off, if you're one of the people affected, you'll receive your salary for 20 weeks + 1 week per year of tenure, equity vested through the end of may, 6 months of health care, your corporate devices, and $5,000 to put toward whatever you need to help you in this transition (if you’re outside the U.S. you’ll receive similar support but exact details are going to vary based on local requirements). i want you to know that before anything else. everyone will be notified today, whether you're being asked to leave, entering consultation, or asked to stay.
we're not making this decision because we're in trouble. our business is strong. gross profit continues to grow, we continue to serve more and more customers, and profitability is improving. but something has changed. we're already seeing that the intelligence tools we’re creating and using, paired with smaller and flatter teams, are enabling a new way of working which fundamentally changes what it means to build and run a company. and that's accelerating rapidly.
i had two options: cut gradually over months or years as this shift plays out, or be honest about where we are and act on it now. i chose the latter. repeated rounds of cuts are destructive to morale, to focus, and to the trust that customers and shareholders place in our ability to lead. i'd rather take a hard, clear action now and build from a position we believe in than manage a slow reduction of people toward the same outcome. a smaller company also gives us the space to grow our business the right way, on our own terms, instead of constantly reacting to market pressures.
a decision at this scale carries risk. but so does standing still. we've done a full review to determine the roles and people we require to reliably grow the business from here, and we've pressure-tested those decisions from multiple angles. i accept that we may have gotten some of them wrong, and we've built in flexibility to account for that, and do the right thing for our customers.
we're not going to just disappear people from slack and email and pretend they were never here. communication channels will stay open through thursday evening (pacific) so everyone can say goodbye properly, and share whatever you wish. i'll also be hosting a live video session to thank everyone at 3:35pm pacific. i know doing it this way might feel awkward. i'd rather it feel awkward and human than efficient and cold.
to those of you leaving…i’m grateful for you, and i’m sorry to put you through this. you built what this company is today. that's a fact that i'll honor forever. this decision is not a reflection of what you contributed. you will be a great contributor to any organization going forward.
to those staying…i made this decision, and i'll own it. what i'm asking of you is to build with me. we're going to build this company with intelligence at the core of everything we do. how we work, how we create, how we serve our customers. our customers will feel this shift too, and we're going to help them navigate it: towards a future where they can build their own features directly, composed of our capabilities and served through our interfaces. that's what i'm focused on now. expect a note from me tomorrow.

I’m proud to announce that Leaders We Deserve is endorsing @RobertJPeters for Congress in IL-02. He has passed over 120 pieces of legislation since joining the Illinois Senate in 2019, making him one of the most productive progressive lawmakers in the country. He knows how to get big things done, without sacrificing his values, which is exactly what we need more of in Congress.
The @DNC vice chair, David Hogg, is looking to primary House Democrats in solid blue seats who are “out of touch” “ineffective” and who are “failing to meet the moment” with a $20 million 2026 investment. This is through @Leaderswedeserv the org he co-founded with Kevin Lata, U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost's former campaign manager. Resources will be invested in electing young leaders who can “bring generational change” to the party, the group tells CBS News. First reported by NYT.
.@davidhogg111 joined @scrippsnews - I asked him abt James Carville calling him a “contemptible little twerp” & saying DNC should sue him after announcing a Dem primary effort.
Hogg: “Try it. I would also say that James Carville has not won an election since before I was born.”
David Hogg, a DNC vice chair, is pledging to upend Democratic primaries by funding candidates who will challenge "asleep-at-the-wheel” Democrats. "Part of" the aim is to elect younger Democrats into Congress, Hogg tells @majorCBS, but he adds it's also "a matter of effectiveness."
"This is a healthy process for our party, and I think we should embrace it," Hogg argues.
This is how to lead. You go to where the pain and crisis is and you say something and act. We’re facing a dictatorial slide and constitutional crisis. It’s not the moment to just listen to pollsters about the price of eggs and Canadian whiskey.
Last year, @davidhogg111 and his group spent millions of dollars trying to flip two winnable seats here in Texas - while too many others sat on the sidelines.
Democrats can compete in competitive races AND demand better representation from our incumbents.
THREAD: There are a lot of questions about what we are doing and why we are challenging some incumbents at leaders we deserve- (No we are not just focused on primaries we also want to support young people running in red to blue seats to help win the majority)
The idea that our solution is in "messaging" - that we just need to find the right set of words to string together in the right sequence to convince people to support us is so far from right. And it represents a completely broken approach to politics that has become so prevalent.
Before we can even begin to think about what our “messaging” or "outreach" to young voters or Black voters or any group of voters should be, we have to lay out a vision for the country that people want and build a party that people want to be a part of. We are far from there.
