@DanicaPriest@NewCor18146@Landan5Magnar@lfg_uk They gave me an author at best, who referred me to a radio show, and a blog post that just says "no it's not true".
Yes, it's clear the bat population will change over time, I'm not sure how exactly that is relevant - 114m for this, while a drop in the bucket for hs2, is insane.
@NewCor18146@Landan5Magnar@lfg_uk I just linked actual sources for both the survey that indicated bat population in the area and the cost he quoted, and the numbers seem to check out - do you have any credible information to the contrary?
@Landan5Magnar@NewCor18146@lfg_uk Not sure how you're figuring that, the source estimates 300 bats, at a total cost of 114m, comes out to around 380,000 "per bat". I still don't really like the "per bat" measurement, but the original tweets claims seem to be correct.

"Using the data collected over the 12 years of field surveys, it is estimated that the
Bernwood population of Bechstein’s bats is approximately 300 individuals, which
represents 1.4% of the population in England. "
@NewCor18146@lfg_uk https://t.co/75lVLdX7mn
"The estimated cost of the structure is c. £95 million in 2019 prices. This can also be expressed as £114m in 2022 prices."
@goinggoldfilms@ShitpostRock2 marathon is a really cool game from a graphic design perspective
as an extraction shooter it was bland, watered down garbage
Looking forwards to the free weekend, hopefully they'll have done something to improve it since server slam

@shinkanko@Jebus yea sorry this guy's hand drawn mspaint line isn't really a perfect representation of an exponential curve
top 10% is usually still pretty damn bad, but you'd never know until you're there and realise how bad you are
@shinkanko@Jebus That's not what the chart shows - the median guy on this chart still has 2x more "skill" than the guys before him, which is clearly appreciable in many disciplines.
You can't understand how much better the top end is until you get "close" and see how far you still have to go.
