I could never come up with an idea for Automations until I set this up:
My phone is always on silent but when I pull out the AirPod Pro’s it adjusts the volumes for music, ringer and Siri.
Put them back in the case and everything goes to silent again.
Seriously, the iPhone is one of the most expensive gadgets people buy — and then only use it for WhatsApp and TikTok.
It’s not the person’s fault.
Apple deliberately hides its 10 best features deep within Settings.
Let’s take a look at them one by one. 🧵
I originally left this area of the store to add WDF.
I sold off my WDF at another location and have no interest in that part of the business anymore so I put the space to better use.
The black box under the folding table contains hookups for another bulkhead.
The white door is a hurricane shutter from Alutech dot com. I had the same one cover the WDF counter at my other laundromat. I'll show more details on that in a future post. I leave the bottom guide off the door so there is no trip hazard.(It's in the back room if someone is looking to purchase one.
The store flooring is Epoxy (not a fan), the brown area is the original terrazzo floor and the blue is where I stained some unfinished concrete. Gives a bit of a beach effect now.
The mural was done by a local artist over 2 days for $500. It was finished in early 2020 but we didn't remove the wall for over a year due to the 'Rona.
Also I install 1/2" OSB under all of the drywall. Makes it easier to hang things if needed and as my mentor once said, "I may find knuckle marks but I won't find a hole"
If you build a new store you don't have to utilize every square inch. If possible leave some options for the future.
Have you ever tried to pull out the sprayer on the kitchen faucet and it gets caught on something in the cabinet?
This video will save you some grief.
A few bucks and about 5 minutes to do.

So I’m scrolling through some store video to try and find a good example of something for a FB group discussion and come across this picture. 🚑
@markvlaskamp maybe you’re right about the Live Feed. Who knows what really goes on at my stores. 🤣
We needed laundromat signage/window decals to prevent all these attempted robberies.
We don’t carry much cash. But, most people associate laundromats with cash businesses.
Our marketing team understood the assignment.
Fun night
The @SimpliSafe low temp sensor by one of my stores water heaters alarms at 10 minutes past the hour.
Every hour

An automated call from @SimpliSafe every time.
I guess it’s time to come clean.
This is not my only account.
I chose the name and tag years ago when 𝕏 was Twitter and nobody was sure what it was really for except giving news agencies short quotes from whoever they needed without having to edit it down.
Since then I have posted a lot of various content, followed some of the big players in the Real Estate, Self Storage, Leasing and development games, and did a cash out refi on a commercial property based on what I learned on 𝕏.
But I’m actually @LaundromatHowTo
I’ve written hundreds of blog posts about Laundromats and small business.
Uploaded hundreds of YouTube videos on repairs, marketing and general Laundromat operations.
I started the first PodCast focused on laundromats in 2015.
I have hosted 2 Laundromats Owners Weekends in Orlando
Served on the Coin Laundry Association Board of Directors.
I am also currently on the Calhoun County AL Chamber Board of Directors with over 1,000 member businesses.
I have a few items For Sale on my website on Laundromat Operations and Wash/Dry/Fold Procedures.
It feels like the right time to let the world know.
I feel like I did that backwards? 😀
Is that how it was supposed to go?
What are your thoughts on a one day event (in a city with a big airport).

I run a quarterly non-profit promotion at my Laundromats.
Washin For A Cause.
This was inspired by Tom Rhodes in FL and his Community Washer program.
We work with a different, local non-profit every quarter.
One washer and one dryer at each of our locations is labeled for the program.
We donate 25% of the Gross Income of these machines to the non-profit.
They also get about 90% of our local radio spots, sometimes an on-air interview, flyers in the store and videos on the store TV’s.

@markvlaskamp Damn.
I never liked the “look at the money I make in my laundromat” videos from Day 1.
Let the rappers flash the cash. I’m sticking to an old car, worn Tshirt and shorts.
Ok. I do have one new TShirt.
