@Redfin Data visualization is hard, and data viz in consumer products is even harder!

But it's extra important to get it right. If you're going to bother to include (and often pay for) the data in your product, it needs to be understandable by the user - quickly and accurately.

@Redfin Having and "x years" on bottom and "y days" on top is an anti pattern. Actual years (2023, 2028, etc) should be on the x ticks.

And I bet the bars were a design choice - it looks cleaner without drawing axis lines needed for a line plot, to the detriment of data comprehension.

@LindaSkitka You also have the benefit of starting your new job with a few months of experience under your belt, cutting down on ramp up time and allowing you to perform at a higher level sooner, which can be good for career growth. Most ex interns I have worked with are stellar.

@LindaSkitka At many organizations, an internship is essentially a very long, thorough job interview (for which you are paid) and has the chance of a job offer at the end, to start upon degree completion. Absolutely not necessary but an enormous leg up, so worth pursuing for sure.

Strong agree with this whole thread. But can we detect when users are in a goal directed vs idle state to be able to target the right moments automatically? Super tricky problem.
