I don’t lack skills or confidence @patmcfaddenmp I have 3 degrees & a career’s worth of experience. I have been assessed multiple times as unfit for work by DWP. Last work coach was relieved when I was put in support group b/c she knew no employer would hire me‼️1/2

We've been a lot less active recently + tbh we completely burnt ourselves out in May-July. TTP was only ever meant to be a pop-up awareness campaign but it became so much more and we're so thankful for that. But it also became more than 4-7 people could handle.

The brazen way he just lies and gaslights disabled people. Right from the moment they announced the cuts, they’ve not listened to disabled people. They’ve lied, dismissed, ignored, gaslit disabled people - because we are nothing to them.

[Briana Mills, LMFT ♿️🏳️‍🌈🍉 @theBrianaMills]

We need to talk more about how disabled people are more likely to be people-pleasers because we need to rely on others to get our basic needs met. We fawn over others in order to survive. To be disabled is to often have trauma responses over if someone is going to help us or not.

[ThePOTSPostman @ThePOTSPostman]

The sickest people I know are also the best actors. We’ve mastered the role of “I’m fine” because the world doesn’t want the truth.

We laugh, smile, and show up while simultaneously fighting fatigue, pain, and discomfort.

Nobody realizes the energy it takes just to pretend.

[Dr Shani Dhanda @ShaniDhanda]

If the government won’t be transparent, we’ll make sure the truth is impossible to ignore. Disabled people deserve transparency, not backdoor cuts.

Chronic illness isn’t some vacation.

It’s the slow loss of everything you used to be.

It’s losing the ability to move without pain. To eat with nausea.

To wake up and just go.

It’s grieving the thousands of tiny things you used to do without even thinking.

Today I was told that if I can’t cook simple meals for myself I should be institutionalized

That people on disability should not be allowed to access “luxuries” like food delivery services because they’re unhealthy & expensive

This is eugenics.

Feeding oneself is survival 🧵

It seems like pretty much every @UKLabour MP who voted for cuts for the disabled has a history of being against cuts for the disabled.

So true, I got myself a brain tumour just so I could give up my well paid job that I loved so I could live in poverty on UC

What Kendall doesn’t state (behind a paywall Telegraph piece) is that most of disabled population are in fact pensioners. 45%. That the rise in State pension age for women increased disability benefits as confirmed by OBR which Kendall chose to ignore. Pension age increase? 👀 👇🏻

[Revolution Breeze @SueJonesSays]

1) The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) has stated that cuts to disability support, specifically Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and the health element of Universal Credit, are not definitively necessary, yet the government is going ahead with them.

[Revolution Breeze @SueJonesSays]

Funny how successive governments always imply poor people are 'incentivised' by punishment & loss of income, whereas very rich people are 'incentivised' by... wait for it ... financial reward and by getting to shape government policy. Of course it's incoherent pseudopsychology.

Ladies and gentlemen, direct from 2021, I present the words of then Leader of the Opposition, Sir Keir Starmer:

"If there’s one thing people don’t like, it’s when someone like the prime minister says one thing and then does another"

[Canary @TheCanaryUK]

DWP boss just said Universal Credit gives disabled people 'perverse incentives' not to work

Liz Kendall's shocking comments came just as a new report slams the DWP for failing vulnerable claimants.

So which is it??? #TakingThePIP

Honestly, the way this wonderful, ethical woman—who’s put herself out there to fight for disabled rights—is being framed as a hard-left extremist says everything about Starmer and what Labour has become. Nothing about her. All about power and its misuse.

[Snowleopardess 💚 @snowleopardess]

Starmer this afternoon when challenged on suspension of 4 MPs:
"I'm determined that we will change this country for the better for millions of WORKING people, and I'm not going to be deflected from that."
Apparently achieved by throwing vulnerable disabled people under the bus.

“Chancellor could have met her fiscal rules without proposing £5 billion worth of welfare cuts, the head of the OBR has said”, in a select committee meeting.
