Every day in my family practice, I care for patients whose access to healthcare is restricted due to their immigration status.
Health is a universal human right. Follow @HealthForAllNow and speak up for #Healthcare4all. ✊🏽❤️🩹🏥
Dr Warner explains why all in Ontario deserve medical care and why the Ford government policy change announced on a Friday night is wrong. It was established long ago that access to healthcare is a human right. @drmwarner
Our op ed in the Star today on why we need to cancel Ford’s cruel cuts to healthcare for uninsured people. https://t.co/EVTIxLNa9C #onpoli#healthcare4all
The Ontario government is set to cut access to healthcare for uninsured people on March 31. Act now! Tell Premier @fordnation to stop the cuts and ensure #healthcare4all https://t.co/DpNW7Capcl
Shameful move from @SylviaJonesMPP & @fordnation's govt to deny uninsured migrants access to healthcare.
We cannot allow this govt to continue leaving behind migrants - who do essential & underpaid work in our communities.

Can we please stop calling folks who have trouble accessing healthcare “hard to reach?" Remember that many people face real structural barriers to accessing healthcare (eg language, transportation, trauma). If anything, we in healthcare are the ones who are hard to reach!
Paediatrician @shazeen_s & Family physician @vanessaredditt write:
The COVID-19 pandemic has made it achingly clear how our collective health depends on protecting the health of all. A fair society means equal rights for all.

Migrants face systemic health barriers due to:
👉 precarious immigration status
👉 public health insurance ineligibility
👉 inability to afford care
Which results in:
👉 delayed care & inability to follow treatment plans
👉 poorer outcomes
#StatusForAll https://t.co/FIXukdUCsh
Immigration status is a social determinant of health. Ensuring equal rights and access for all migrants is critical for closing systemic gaps in health inequities. A comprehensive regularization plan that includes ALL migrants is imperative to health.
#StatusForAll
.@JustinTrudeau@SeanFraserMP The data is clear: lack of status leads to worse health outcomes, barriers to healthcare & poor working conditions. Health workers urge you to grant full and permanent immigration status to all migrants w/o exception
Powerful words and painful stories being shared. The Canadian immigration system wreaks havocs on people’s lives and access to health. We need #StatusForAll NOW!!
My pain research colleagues are sending me texts, photos, and updates from #CanadianPain22... and the FOMO is so real over having to miss @FionaWebster1 and @LauraConnoy's critical sociology (my jam) focused chronic pain presentation this AM.
Wishing attendees another great day!
Standing room only in today’s symposium on Critical Social Science Approaches to Chronic Pain and Marginalization. Incredible to see the interest in this much needed work! #CanadianPain22 @LiseDassieu @FionaWebster1@LauraConnoy@Therese_Lane01
This is important. And also, to state the obvious, the world is a deathscape for many, and there are deadly wars and invasions in many more places. An end to displacement, misery, militarism, impoverishment, and detention for all. Safe passage for all. Open the borders for all.
“all people, regardless of citizenship or immigration status, are deserving of care […] in order to ensure truly universal health coverage, the right to health should always be the value guiding decisions around entitlement.” #SDoH
