Norma is a migrant worker who has called Ontario home for 36 years. To this day, Norma is denied healthcare because of her immigration status. It's time for #Heallthcare4All regardless of immigration status.

Delayed access to medications, counselling, dental care, mobility supports and medical supplies could increase emergency department visits, hospitalizations and long-term public costs.

Announced this week, the federal government is introducing cuts to the interim federal health plan (IFHP) that gives healthcare access to people who are refugees in Canada. This affects the patients I care for as a doctor.
This is so incredibly cruel and unjust to cut people’s healthcare while simultaneously sending the weapons and arms being used abroad that fuel the reason why some people are being displaced and seek refuge here in Canada in the first place.
The federal government previously introduced cuts to this plan in 2012, and they were eventually reversed in 2016 because of widespread pushback. We can do it again with your help to push back against bad policy that will harm people’s health.
Health-care professionals spoke out on Parliament Hill against the proposed changes to refugee healthcare. Recipients under the IFHP will be required to pay a $4 fee for prescription medications and a 30% co-payment for other services. Video: 'no cuts to care' in Instagram.
Health workers protest outside @EvanLSolomon's office to #SayNoToCuts to refugee healthcare. This is part of a national day of action happening in 12 cities across the country!
@MarkJCarney must urgently reverse the cuts to the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) #Health4All
The Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) provides care to refugees and asylum seekers in Canada. Many of these individuals have limited financial resources and complex mental health needs.

Don't miss this great feature in The Local on how the cuts to the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) will affect refugees. Many thanks to photographer Chloë Ellingson and reporter Wency Leung for their work. It was a pleasure to open our doors to them.

New IFHP changes = new costs for patients.
$4 per prescription + 30% co-pay for key services like mental health, dental & vision care.
For many, this isn’t “small” — it’s a barrier.
We must protect equitable access to care in Canada.

Sixty years ago today, Canada created SAWP — tying migrants to employers.
60 years of exploitation. 60 years of resistance. Migrants are the solution.

Doctors shouldn't have to choose who "deserves" care. As emergency physician Dr. Bernard Ho said, "This is a health equity issue for Ontario’s most vulnerable."
We need a permanent program that provides #Healthcare4All regardless of immigration status.

Thanks to @OntariosDoctors for insisting that #Healthcare4All become a reality. Uninsured migrants are an essential part of our community.
@SylviaJonesMPP@fordnation no one should be denied healthcare bcs of their immigration status.

We are encouraged by @OntariosDoctors pushing for uninsured care to be covered.
Many people who build our homes, care for the elderly, grow our food, are uninsured migrants who do not have access to healthcare.
We need #Healthcare4All!

Health care is more than just physicians. We also need immigration pathways for PSWs, nurses, dietary aides, and other health workers. And for patients too, because immigration is a key determinant of health. #StatusForAll https://t.co/VWHzYyFZL5
Alejandro works hard in his construction job, but his biggest worry? Getting sick or injured outside of work because he has no access to health coverage as a migrant. No one should have to live in fear of a medical emergency #HealthcareForAll#StatusForAll
