Consumers pulled back less in Jan auto/retail spending NSA after slower holiday growth. Annual growth of 3m NSA avgs give a better sense of trends. Slower nominal spending & inflation mean a stable consumer amidst big shifts in what they spend $$ on, but nowhere near a recession

A6: (1/5) Last one? That went fast! I think there are some clear trends emerging. Students and employers want short-term, flexible, highly engaging technical training. This means that many of these programs will likely be "non-credit" comm college programs. #DistrictDialogues
A6: (4/5) Last year I wrote about some of these trends and the need for expanding the Pell Grant to cover non-credit workforce training at community colleges. I believe this would make a significant difference for students, colleges and employers. #DistrictDialogues

A5: (1/4) I think it strongly depends on the demographics of the individuals. We know, for example, that females have seen more significant labor force participation declines, while males have less likely to attend school.
A5: (3/4) I think it's clear that some young people are simply living at home and not working OR attending school. Older students are more likely to have taken on more care responsibilities for children or elders. #DistrictDialogues
