Used to be: PostDoc @ Department of Evolutionary Theory, Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology. Now: working as a biostatistician for clinical trials.
Dramatic reminder of the rate of climate change on a misty morning in Iceland. The Sólheimajökull glacier (right) covered the entire lagoon in this photo only 20 years back (had to put camera phone in panoramic mode to capture the full extent of the retreat).
As a corollary to this, I have noticed that my patients treat female residents differently when I introduce them by first name (when I started I introduced all residents - and myself - by first name). I have now started using professional titles for everyone. @ShaunaRadOnc
If you want to work on the mathematics of social behaviour and cooperation work with @chilbe3, you can't do better. Also Christian is super nice and @MPI_EvolBio has a fantastic working environment.
Are you interested in tumour heterogeneity and evolution and want to dive into a lot of multi-omics cancer data? We have a new postdoc position open in my lab at the Centre for Evolution and Cancer @ICR_London (https://t.co/7dqwO7OK4Q): https://t.co/17znxtCfJ3
This has an interesting "evolutionary graph structure", it contains multiple competing stars (amplifier of selection), and a line (suppressor of selection).
I have mad respect for all postdocs & students who are mothers. It is so difficult to manage pregnancy, childbearing & childcare with experiments, courses, seminars, thesis, publication, job application..etc. The least we can do as #PI is to provide maximum support. #womeninSTEM
Getting sick while having severe allergies feels like a scam. Like y'all eosinophils let a virus come into this house but will hit the self-destruct button at first contact with a peanut? Great priorities, team.
I'm looking for a PhD student and a Post-Doc to join the dynamics of social behavior group at @MPI_EvolBio. If you are interested in evolutionary game theory and mathematical models of cooperation and reciprocity, please apply.

The depth of my ignorance even in the areas I am supposedly an expert after 30+ years in the field never ceases to astonish me. There are two ways of dealing with this: 1) Humility and collaboration. 2) Impostor syndrome. I make the choice daily.
It's immensely frustrating to have to say this so often to journalists, but false balance is a serious problem and it's irresponsible and lazy to contrive a debate over something that has a real human cost, as I've said before in @guardian https://t.co/YTKQPzUD1D
Exciting news in the Creanza Lab -- we were just awarded our first @NSF grant!! How does stress interact with learning, the brain, and the microbiome? Stay tuned as @KateTSnyder leads the investigation! Huge thank you to the Science of Learning initiative for funding our work.
43, a tenured full professor of epidemiology with 23 years of lab experience and almost 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, I still get these comments. I'm no one's "sweetie."
Excited for my move to @bciqmul to establish my own group on theoretical somatic evolution in October. Post Doc and PhD position available. If you want to work on somatic evolution with great colleagues at the Barts in Central London, please get in touch https://t.co/3EsL3keYHk
