Something I see often in therapy: People say they *want* change, but they stay on their current path.
We want to take action — to leave the job, set the boundary, end the relationship, start something new.
But then we freeze, delay responding, or just talk ourselves out of the change.
Why? Because change ALWAYS comes with some kind of loss, EVEN when the change is a positive step forward..
👤 Leaving a job might mean losing your identity.
💔 Setting a boundary might mean losing approval.
🌱 Starting something new might mean letting go of who you used to be.
That’s why people stay the same. Staying in an already painful situation *feels safer* than losing something, even if what we lose by staying is ourselves.
What have you talked yourself out of recently? Are you resisting change because you’re afraid of a loss? Let me know in the comments. 👇
