Which environmental substrates have greater #AMR#Pathogen risk?
🦠🧫 We investigate this in our 🆕 publication with @MicrobioSoc, featuring the experiments from the first year of my @UniofExeterESI and @PlymouthMarine PhD

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the major global health challenges.
If you live in the UK, you have the opportunity to contribute to and inform AMR research.
This summer at the University of Exeter, we've been investigating whether swimming in #sewage polluted rivers and lakes across the UK is linked to a higher risk of carrying AMR bacteria🦠💊relative to people who do not swim.
But non-swimmers can carry these bacteria, too.
If you do not swim in rivers, lakes or the sea, take part in the #PooSticksStudy and help us understand how widespread these bugs are among the British public and if swimming in rivers is linked to changes in the likelihood of harbouring these types of bugs

We are running a massive online open course on AMR databases starting end of the month. Its completely free, study at your own pace and its ~15 hours overall over the 3 weeks (although you can finish any time in a year). Please spread in your networks! https://t.co/n6LU8VDeTw
Are you worried about 💩pollution in 🇬🇧 rivers spreading 'superbugs'?
The Poo-Sticks project needs your help!
This summer, we've been studying the gut microbiomes of river swimmers and are now looking for people who don't swim in rivers, lakes, or the sea.
Your participation is key to understanding how widespread 💊antibiotic-resistant bacteria 🦠are among the British public.
Are you interested in taking part?
Do you know anyone who might be?
There are 200 sample kits left. Request yours now: https://t.co/srjFlbxy4j

We had a fun evening for our ESI #ECR community last week titled "Paint your research."
Our brilliant researchers are also amazing artists!
And we had pizza🍕 and drinks!
We will have all the posters displayed in the ESI interactive space soon. Come take a look!
