It's also incredibly mentally demanding - having to learn new teams, systems and modes of working every 4 months, getting ripped away again just as you're becoming a smoothly operating member of the team.
NHS staff need "better paid jobs" too, Rishi
➡️Making the UK a great place work in healthcare
➡️Discourage UK talent fleeing for higher pay abroad
➡️RETAIN staff > waiting lists down > grow economy
➡️RETAIN to train increased numbers of future docs & nurses
➡️Restore pay fairly
1/ So junior docs in Scotland 🏴 have a pay offer and jnr docs in Scotland will be voting on it.
With inflation all over the place I thought I would offer some thoughts (and charts) - the official FAQ is below

@ClaraReeves2001 Rural GP is the best! My 4th and 5th year placements were both very rural. Everyone is friendly and wants to help you learn. You’ll get out of it what you put in. Don’t stress and use the time to explore the local area. Finals are a LONGGGGGG way away from block 1 don’t burn out
Hey @NHSEngland, @NHSScotland, and UK #Medtwitter
Those UK doctors who moved to my Aussie ED realised we never had an Exit Interview. We never got to share some of the examples of NHS culture that drove us away. Perhaps we can inform you a little with some anecdotes? 🧵
@jburnmurdoch@FT @NHSDigital @NuffieldTrust 14/29 So for example @ONS have other pay comparators like "professional, scientific & technical" which might be a more apt comparator for highly skilled doctors & nurses - this comparator does better than inflation in the same time period (grey line)
1 in 7 UK-trained doctors have left to practise in another country @FT reports - and its easy to see why with rates like this 👇
Junior doctors and nurses have suffered a much steeper decline in real-terms pay than the average worker.

Right on the money.
What a superb article in @Telegraph with a haunting last line.
But the real cost? It's to ourselves and our families.
The true cost of being a junior doctor https://t.co/htmQ1Yn7IE
Junior doctors are what we might call Schrödinger's Trainees, to borrow Mike Reynolds' line: too unimportant to pay fairly, but too important to strike.
Me finishing horrific set of nights at 8:30 only to receive an email at 16:55 ordering me to work day shift at 8am the next day. The irony of this happening on day 1 of the English JD strikes
@ross_moy @mina_el_naguib I’m fully vaccinated and developed pertussis during uni (outbreak in fife at the time). I wasn’t well for 2-3 months but I know it was mild compared to if I hadn’t been vaccinated
Seeing people say doctors get paid well because basic pay is topped up with extra for weekends/nights/on calls etc.
So many assumptions are made with that statement
