My second Native romcom comes out July 22, 2024 with Berkley. here is the gorgeous cover illustrated by the incomparable @holoskeart
Loved writing my take on a cowboy romance, reclaiming the genre that has been historically racist & perpetuated harmful stereotypes for decades.
@AcinelliAuthor A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon. It's a series of standalone but interconnected books, with 2 already out and a third releasing soon. Hilarious, light hearted, and sweet but also steamy.
there are certain groups of able-bodied people for whom suspending their disbelief to indulge in fantasy of any kind is simply impossible.
they push for erasing disability in media bc they aren't capable of relating to something in abstract.
there are certain groups of special-label people for whom suspending their disbelief to indulge in fantasy of any kind is simply impossible.
they push for LITERAL representation because they aren't capable of relating to something in abstract.
and they're the reason why everything in entertainment is getting so much worse.
1) People with disabilities exist and deserve to be represented in every genre
2) Characters with disabilities don't need to be "fixed" and the presumption that they do is, quite frankly, offensive
3) Curing disabilities with magic is just plain lazy writing
@grandmabarista I would guess most of those are going to fail. You canβt trademark names (most of the time) and for categories that have nothing to do with her work, like hair care ? Her attorneys are probably just throwing everything at the proverbial wall and seeing what sticks.
If you don't like a special edition cover then just... don't buy it. No one is making you. There's no need to publicly trash an artist bc you don't like cartoon covers.
