Honoured to work for the Resource-based Tourism Sector and colleagues in other tourism sectors to affect change. 30 years in and still passionate about my work.
@CFIB Well said Dan. Such a disappointment. 18 days or three months in a non-operating season, is nothing for the federal government to shout from the rooftops. For our seasonal tourism businesses this doesn't provide any #CEBA relief whatsoever. Our collective work is not done.
TIAO hosted a Northern ON Tourism Roundtable with MP @mferreriptbokaw, MP @ChrisLewisEssex, and MP @Eric_Melillo. We were joined by NOTO,DNO & Northern tourism businesses who discussed the obstacles facing the resource-based tourism sector. Thanks to everyone for meeting with us!
Extremely disappointing news from the Feds last night that will bring more challenges to the resource-based tourism industry & communities in northern Ontario. So short sighted & unfair that the this sector will continue to be sacrificed during this pandemic by the Cdn gov't.
The resource-based tourism sector in Northern Ontario will not begin recovering from this pandemic until all federal mandates at our border are eliminated. Our sector is reporting over $100M in cancellations over the last two months. $100M in new money that won't reach Canada.
#COVID19 has devastated the tourism and hospitality sectors. Passing Bill #C2 in its current form will save thousands of businesses and jobs. Without it, there will be collapse of an entire sector.
A big THANK YOU to Minister Yakabuski and the Provincial Government for providing a second year of relief for our resource-based tourism operators. This support is much appreciated.
