@educators_rock @BrotherCitizen I love your answer. We truly need to look beyond the numbers and look inside to find out what a child is going through that causes them to ͏score low academically. They are little humans not data.
@BrotherCitizen I don’t think anyone can be colorblind because of our history. I do think we can be culturally responsive by getting to know the communities we serve and avoid judging people. Our focus has to be on advancing our people, especially the children.
@BrotherCitizen I think we need a more nurturing school environment. We must eliminate suspensions and expulsions and focus on a more wholistic approach to teaching. That is involving the community leaders in working with families to create jobs and equal educational opportunities.

@BrotherCitizen Black girls get their share of negative discipline. However, I see more AA boys being suspended, put outside the classroom to sit in the hall and denied school privileges. I think fear is a major factor in how they are treated.
