Examine Yourself Every Day

Beloved Huzoor (aba) urged Ahmadi women to undertake daily self-examination. At the end of each day, they should ask themselves how many righteous deeds they were able to perform, how successfully they protected themselves from the immoralities and vices surrounding them, and how firmly they remained upon the right path. A person may claim to possess true faith, but Beloved Huzoor (aba) said that the real test is whether their actions correspond with their words. Faith therefore requires continual scrutiny of one’s own conduct rather than satisfaction with verbal claims or outward identity.

Before Accepting a Proposal, Pray Seriously

They should ask themselves how far they are fulfilling the rights of their Bai‘at to the Promised Messiah (as), the rights of Allah’s worship, the commandments of the Holy Qur’an and the instructions of the Holy Prophet (sa); how loyal they are to Khilafat and the Jamaat; how firmly their deeds are rooted in piety; how lovingly and compassionately they treat others; and how well they are fulfilling their responsibility to ensure the moral and spiritual upbringing of their children. If they find themselves falling short in any respect, they must never take it lightly, but continually strive to improve so that they may become recipients of Allah’s love and grace.

“Fear Not; You Shall Indeed Be Victorious”

During prostration, at the height of his anguish, the Promised Messiah (as) received the divine words: “Fear not; you shall indeed be the victorious.” For around six months, however, everyone he questioned continued insisting that Bishambar Das had been acquitted, and opponents mocked him. The Promised Messiah (as), nevertheless, retained complete faith that Allah would manifest the truth.

The Holy Prophet (sa) and Gratitude Towards His Companions

Hazrat Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri (ra) narrated that the Holy Prophet (sa) said that Allah had given one of His servants the choice between this world and what is with Him, and that servant chose what is with Allah. Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra) immediately began to weep, while the other Companions initially wondered why. He had understood before them that the Holy Prophet (sa) was referring to himself and that his departure from this world was approaching.

The Holy Prophet (sa) then said that no one had shown him greater favour through companionship and financial sacrifice than Abu Bakr (ra), and that had he taken an intimate friend besides his Lord, he would have chosen Abu Bakr (ra). Beloved Huzoor (aba) presented this as another expression of the Holy Prophet’s (sa) deep and enduring gratitude towards those who had supported him.

On this day, Al Hakam published notes recorded by its editor, Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Irfani (ra), regarding a sitting between the Promised Messiah (as) and Lala Keshudas Sahib, the Revenue Officer (Tehsildar) of Batala.

Lala Keshudas Sahib had visited Qadian in 1899, where he visited the Mubarak Mosque and met with the Promised Messiah (as). Sheikh Yaqub Ali Irfani (ra) recorded the discourse held during the sitting, which was subsequently published in Al Hakam on 9 August 1900.
