My first deer hunting rifle was a 30.06. I was shooting at a shorter range, but there were times my bullet didn't go thru a deer. Even shot in the neck it didn't exit sometimes. Different grains, different makers, etc. all make a difference. Even made from the same maker can behave differently. It might have even been a reload from someone and not from a known maker.

They are still holding that stock in a lot of places. So now they have been given very limited stock on new machines and the rest they have to order.
