Kenyan politicians creating goons today are playing with a fire they may never be able to put out, since the country that quietly accepted brutal cleanups after 2007 no longer exists.

Back then, Mungiki was useful during political violence, then John Michuki’s security machinery moved against its members through arrests, disappearances and killings that many Kenyans questioned only after bodies had already appeared in forests and mortuaries.

The ICC cases later showed how political violence can return to haunt its planners, since witnesses, phone records, meetings, transport arrangements and money trails can carry politicians from campaign rallies into international courtrooms.

Today, Kenyans record everything, question every death, trace every vehicle, follow every mobile money trail and demand names, meaning politicians cannot recruit goons now and expect the State to quietly eliminate them later.

Once these gangs become organised, armed, funded and protected, they will not simply disappear when elections end, and any attempt to kill them after using them would create public outrage, evidence trails and fresh international attention.

The real danger is that politicians think they are hiring temporary muscle, yet they may be creating permanent criminal groups that will demand money, territory and protection long after their political usefulness has ended.

Anyone building goon squads today should study Mungiki, Michuki, the 2007 killings and the ICC files, since using violent groups is always easier than removing them without exposing everyone who created them.

Yesterday while speaking on Inooro TV, Gachagua claimed that Cabinet Secretaries who have been camping in Ol-Kalou have been luring primary & secondary school girls to Naivasha hotels where they supply them with high voltage electricity. Gachagua also told a report from a parent whose daughters were missing for three days, only to be found hidden by the Cabinet Secretary that he refused to name. When the parent allegedly went to report the case, the OCS was transferred. Now this is another level of being delulu,, hii ni story za Jaba. But mumus will tell you that the guy gets high level intelligence yet we all know if all this was true, Gachagua would've named the perpetrator since he's a truthful man.

In 2021, Brandon Soules did not want to go to his shift at the tyre store. So he gagged himself with a bandana, tied his own hands behind his back with his belt, lowered himself to the ground, and shuffled to the side of the road to wait for someone to find him.

When police arrived they found the 19-year-old bound and gagged.

He told them two masked men had kidnapped him, knocked him unconscious, driven him around demanding to know where his father had buried a large sum of money in the desert, and then abandoned him there.

Detectives spent days investigating. They reviewed surveillance footage, interviewed witnesses, checked his phone records and text messages.

None of it matched his story.

Hospital records showed no concussion or head injury. There was no evidence of any kidnapping whatsoever.

When confronted with the evidence, Soules admitted he had fabricated the entire story to avoid going to work. He was fired from the tyre shop.

He was charged with false reporting to law enforcement.

His plan to get a day off resulted in a criminal record and national media coverage. Calling in sick would have worked better.
