@emilypawley I haven’t seen someone say this yet, but in addition to preferring the atmosphere of lights-off, my students are highly earth-conscious and seem to have been raised or grown into thinking about things like saving energy.
My sixth graders are reading @AuthorLisaFipps Starfish as a class, and within a day of handing the book to them, they are already raving about it and have two other teachers reading it, too!
@RebekahODell1 One piece of advice that I learned through research: The student should read a variety of genres for their leisure reading. And always slip in nonfiction!
A student at my school devoured @tracydeonn ‘s Legendborn and came into my classroom to talk to me about it everyday. When I told her there was a sequel coming out, she gifted me with a countdown board! I don’t even teach her! That’s the power of good books ❤️
