Hi, #LdnOnt Tweeps. We have a form for u to report any fireworks violations. Consumer fireworks are permitted Sat., July 1 from dusk to 11pm. If you hear fireworks outside of that time, please report via our form. This info will be shared w/ City Hall. Thx https://t.co/GWtnPtE1f3
This is our annual reminder to celebrate Canada Day with environmentally friendly alternatives, such as laser shows, drone shows, festivals, block parties, or as mentioned in the cartoon, a special treat like ice cream

@c_nfa@strosow How can you say there's been no response if no inquiry was made to learn more.?? You're literally tweeting lies and fallacies to suit your own narrative at this point
It's very concerning for an Canadian organization with such clear bias to be commenting on thus issue at all
Thank you to councilor @strosow for continuing to fight for a better #ldnont
We are disappointed in the 11 councilors who continue to fail to account for the London Climate Emergency Action plan when voting on this but we can at least say they've been consistent in their failures
Here’s an interesting report from the Toronto Fire Department for a proposed amendment to the Ontario Fire Code about the regulation of backyard fireworks.

It seems like a very sensible approach.
We're saddened to learn that even more lives have been lost as a consequence of the toxic #fireworks industry yesterday
Many factory workers are injured and killed every year in accidents just like this one in India 😔 https://t.co/rVUFGt3w0U

@ryandwhyte@CityofLdnOnt This isn't about ruining ppls fun. We encourage people to come together for celebration whenever they see fit
Our campaign is about being environmentally and socially responsible while you celebrate.
Burning toxic chemicals like gun powder for the pretty colors isn't responsible
We are deeply saddened & disappointed to see that despite the research shared with the @CityofLdnOnt council about the harms of #fireworks, they've still planned to host not just 1 but 2 fireworks shows for new years eve
Shame on #LdnOnt for disregarding that #FireworksHarm many
Quick reminder to #ldnont ppl that Diwali is this weekend
If you have pets, sensory overload disorders, or know someone who does, take caution to check the list of #fireworks shows and protect yourself if you happen to be near one
And PLEASE report every violation that you hear
@strosow@CTVLondon The four against progress were always predictable, it's the flip flops in the middle that can't decide when to serve the People, and when to serve their political careers, that need more pressure to do what's right.
@NeedlesOnNews @waasizoanangkwe We would have been willing to say let them have Diwali and Chinese New Year and pull both colonial holidays from the fireworks celebrations. As one of our Indigenous members stated, Canada Day is the celebration of the genocide of Indigenous peoples.
@st3v3turn3r There absolutely were clear advocates. And, thank u to Trosow, Franke, Hopkins, Ferreira & McAlister. But, I’ll reiterate, I never heard anyone say they acknowledged the harm caused to the disabled community. Safety and environment? Absolutely! And, again, we’re grateful for that
@NeedlesOnNews I was referring 2 people right here in London, who stated @ the PPM that they celebrate Diwali- in London - with fireworks, in contravention of the current by-law. At least India is on track with banning Diwali fireworks in many states due to environmental concerns. Brampton too!
@NeedlesOnNews @waasizoanangkwe That community also said they were law-abiding citizens; that they have always celebrated Diwali with fireworks. Fireworks 4 Diwali have NEVER been permitted under the by-law. I guess it wouldn’t matter if we told them how 2 celebrate because they’d just do there own thing anyway
@NeedlesOnNews @waasizoanangkwe W/ the safety, environ., public health, wildlife & pet concerns caused by fireworks, it is completely backwards thinking to permit more days to celebrate. As Franke stated, we don’t believe fireworks should be used for ANY holidays. There are many other eco-friendly alternatives.
@NeedlesOnNews @waasizoanangkwe IGNORED! Not once did anyone on Council say, “we hear and acknowledge that some residents suffer great harm from fireworks.” But, that’s okay. People with disabilities are used to being on the bottom rung of society; ignored and swept aside.
@NeedlesOnNews @waasizoanangkwe There was a lot of talk about “diversity, inclusion & equity.” Council paid a lot of attn. to some religious communities. What about the DISABLED community? Those who suffer from PTSD, Autism, asthma, sensory perception disorders and other health concerns were COMPLETELY IGNORED.
