Terrific that we are discussing a donkey field bought twenty years ago for some elderly parents but not Reform’s alleged financial relationships with Russia.
OPEN LETTER TO SIR KEIR STARMER
Dear Sir Keir
Tonight, during the Last Night of the Proms, the Royal Albert Hall is a sea of blue and gold flags. flying alongside our British flag. Thousands of EU flags, lifted high, drowning out the politics of division, symbols of solidarity and internationalism.
That is the patriotism of integrity and hope.
That is Britain at its best.
Yet, your proclamation as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom that you are “governing for all”, is now twisting into chasing Reform voters’ approval with anti-immigrant narratives.
Let’s be crystal clear: pandering to Nigel Farage is not ‘governing for all’. It is lowering the bar of leadership to meet the standards of a discourse that thrives on hate and division, and whose extremist supporters today have threatened havoc and fear in central London. This is a race to the bottom, and Britain deserves better from you at a time when the online radicalisation of all political extremes is fast destroying social cohesion.
It is blatantly against the national interest.
Our freely taken EU flags carry a louder truth: millions of us will not be silenced. We want a Britain that looks outward, not inward. A Britain that builds bridges, not borders. A Britain that leads with courage and principle, not ‘real-politik’ and racist dog whistle.
The choice is yours. Lead towards the future, lead towards better, kinder politics, lead the Brexit-rejecting British electorate back to Europe, or else keep flirting with Farage’s fascists and fan the flames of fear, intimidation and violence:
That choice is yours, but so too must be the legacy.
The whole nation is watching:
Tonight, the Royal Albert Hall shows that the country is ready to be led away from Brexit’s gruesomely misnamed ‘sunny uplands’, towards higher, more hopeful political ground.
The real question is—are you?

Privatisation broke our water system.
@labourslewis has a people-first, evidence-based alternative, and I’m backing it.

The government has set up a water commission to conduct the biggest review since privatisation. I just asked them to back bringing water companies into public ownership. Join me by sending the email here in just 60 seconds. https://t.co/ZZW7Ri6bb6
Dear Facebook Oversight Board,
You’ve made a profoundly wrong & bad choice.
For anyone else facing an ethical dilemma in these coming years, this is what @TimothyDSnyder says: ‘Know who you are.’
