The Fon of Kedjom Ketinguh in Cameroon's Northwest region, HRM Viyouf Sheteh Nelson, has paid a visit to his counterpart in Buea, the paramount chief HRM Robert Esuka Endeley.
The visit to Buea Palace took place over the weekend.
According to Kedjom Ketinguh Palace, the visit was marked by cordial exchanges, mutual respect, and meaningful discussions centered on traditional leadership, cultural heritage, and the vital role of traditional institutions in promoting peace, unity, and community development.
The Fon of Kedjom Ketinguh was in town to meet with his people. However, in line with the spirit of unity and respect for the traditional ruler of Buea, he visited the palace to announce his presence.
Buea is host to hundreds from Kedjom Ketinguh.
The Fon was accompanied to the palace by the queen, Chieu Njiehfoin Njiekebeng Ngwain Johnson Monju; Chieufoin Ntsngsi Max; Chieufoin Gemoh Tamabang, president general of KEKCULDA; and other distinguished sons and daughters of Kedjom Ketinguh.
“Their presence underscored the strong bonds of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect that exist among traditional institutions across Cameroon," the Palace said in a statement.
“The meeting provided an opportunity for both traditional leaders to exchange experiences, strengthen ties between their respective communities, and reaffirm their commitment to preserving cultural values while promoting social cohesion, peace, and sustainable development,” the statement added.
According to a statement from the Buea Paramount Palace, the two leaders discussed the large Babaki community in Buea and how the paramount ruler of Buea has been like a father to all of them.
The Paramount Chief of Buea, since ascending to the throne, has maintained a very good relationship with several kingdoms in the Northwest region.
Aside from hosting hundreds of thousands of subjects from Northwest tribes, he has received several honors in his palace, the most recent being that from Kedjom Ketinguh.
According to the Fon of Kedjom Ketinguh, the visit stands as yet another significant step in fostering goodwill and deepening the longstanding relationship between the people of Kedjom Ketinguh and the people of Buea. “It also highlights the importance of dialogue, collaboration, and cultural diplomacy in advancing community progress and national unity,” HRM Viyouf Sheteh Nelson said.
