Google wants to build its next AI data center on top of wetlands.

Not near them.

On them.

This is Indiana, where they've already lost 85% of their wetlands.

Google's own developer admitted it in writing: avoiding the wetlands entirely "was not feasible."

Translation: it was possible. They just didn't want to redesign the buildings and spend the money to do it.

This phase alone destroys over 4 acres of protected wetland, filled in with dirt and concrete for 3 new buildings, plus a maze of wastewater pipes and electrical lines.

Combined with what Google already paved over in earlier phases, the total reaches 8.54 acres of wetland gone. Permanently.

And there are still more phases coming, in a campus planned to eventually hold 12 buildings total.

This isn't an accident. In July 2025, Trump signed an executive order specifically directing federal agencies to fast-track permits like this one under the Clean Water Act, for any AI data center project pulling more than 100 megawatts of power, which includes campuses exactly like this one.

It's the reason wetland permits that used to take years now move in months. And it's a major reason the United States now has more AI data centers than any other country on Earth; companies racing to break ground and lock in approvals while this administration keeps the door held open.

Fort Wayne officials publicly promised residents Google's data center wouldn't raise their utility rates. But statewide, Indiana utilities are already shifting hundreds of millions of dollars in AI data center infrastructure costs onto ordinary customers' bills, for other companies' projects, right now.

The company promises no impact. Then the infrastructure costs get passed on anyway.

It's the same pattern with the wetlands too: promises that the damage is minimal, manageable, offset. Meanwhile the actual land keeps disappearing.

What's left of Indiana's wetlands now covers less than 1% of the entire state.

This land once supported salamanders, spotted turtles, and great blue herons; species that depend on wetlands to survive at all.

They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot. Now they're coming for that last 1% too.

How much of our natural landscape, our clean water, our wildlife are we expected to bulldoze, just to keep feeding an AI boom that never seems to have enough?

Cendrawasih punya lebih dari 40 spesies. Tapi populasinya terus menyusut, seiring musnahnya habitat mereka.

Dulu burung ini bisa dijumpai sebanyak 10-15 ekor per kilometer persegi. Kini turun menjadi 2-3 ekor saja.

Selain berkurangnya habitat, cendrawasih terancam punah akibat perburuan liar.

Bulunya diperjualbelikan dengan harga mahal.

The New South Wales Government is going to shoot Australian wild brumby horses starting tomorrow 6am Monday 24th August through Friday 28th, in Yuraygir National Park. They will be mass shooting the animals from helicopters. These horses do not always die immediately, and dependent foals can be left without their mothers.

Over 7,000 wild horses have already been killed through aerial shooting in Kosciuszko National Park. Now aerial shooting is being used against horses in Yuraygir, all in the name of protecting the “environment”.

If the NSW Government actually cared so deeply about protecting the environment, why is it facilitating 15 proposed data centre projects worth almost $52 billion, despite the enormous electricity and water demands associated with data centres?

What about trapping and rehoming these horses? Many locals who live alongside them dispute the extent of the environmental damage being attributed to these animals.

Where is the recent, publicly available, independent and transparent evidence showing the current extent of environmental damage specifically caused by the horses in Yuraygir? And where is the evidence showing that shooting them from helicopters is necessary instead of pursuing non lethal alternatives?

Some people will argue that wild horses can impact ecosystems. This does not automatically mean aerial shooting is the only, or the right, solution. In my opinion, this is awful and inhumane.

There are better ways to manage these beautiful animals than shooting them from the sky.

Sena - The dog who was nothing but skin and bones, and the power of the will to live 💓✨

I still cannot forget the first image of Sena. A tiny female dog, reduced to nothing but skin and bones, with almost nothing left on her body. She was found in a rural area of Thailand just two days before New Year’s Eve. No one could understand how she was still breathing.

When Beth and her boyfriend received Sena from the veterinary clinic, they had prepared themselves mentally, yet they were still shocked. They thought she would only survive a few more days. Beth even asked herself: “Am I being cruel by trying to keep her alive?”

The first hours were filled with tears. Then, a few days later, a miracle happened. Sena’s tail started wagging. Just a small wag, but it was enough for Beth to understand: she wanted to live. She was fighting.

After only one week, her fur began to grow back. Sena grew stronger day by day, more playful, learning to ask for belly rubs, running to the sofa and wagging her tail nonstop. From a creature that had nearly given up, she became a fluffy dog with bright eyes and full of life.

What struck me most was not only the physical transformation. It was the way such a fragile being still held on to such a fierce will to live. In the animal world, this is not rare. Many animals that are abandoned, starved, or severely injured still try to survive until the very last moment. They do not complain. They do not give up easily. All they need is one small chance: a meal, a shelter, a gentle hand, to begin again.

Sena is the clearest proof. When she received proper care and genuine love, her body recovered at an astonishing speed. Love and attention do not only heal physical wounds; they also awaken the desire to live within.

Beth said she would do it all over again in a heartbeat, no matter how painful the process was. Looking at Sena today, with her thick fur, bright eyes, happy and trusting, I understand why. Because sometimes, saving a life is not only about pulling it back from death. It is about giving it back the right to truly live: to run, to wag its tail, to be loved without fear.

Sena is not just a rescued dog. She is a reminder that in the animal world, the will to live is always stronger than we imagine. And all it takes is one person willing to stop, to open their heart, for a living being that seemed beyond hope to start over once more ❤️
