NEW: @LeaBernhardt4 (@HWWIHamburg) and Ralf Dewenter (@blog_m) study 6,245 EU merger decisions to show rising use of economic terms, positive tonality, and regulatory changes affecting review duration but not prohibition rates. Fascinating! https://t.co/wiI84rsLzr @CodeXStanford #computationalantitrust

Stichwort #greedflation? Ein schöner Satz dazu von @jasonfurman gestern Abend bei der Geburtstagsfeier des @SVR_Wirtschaft: "Blaming inflation on greed is like blaming planes crash on gravity."
Yesterday, @LeaBernhardt4 & I wrote an op-ed in the FAZ about #greedflation. While the idea sounds plausible at first, the theoretical rationale and the empirical evidence for it are weak. The policy implications are important.

With all respect, I disagree on many points, such as the idea of seller inflation. But I really don't get why so many people -even @NewYorker- are stating the wrong thing. The German "gas price break" was NOT price control. It was a transfer. That is so fundamentally different.
Watchdog or loyal servant? In our paper, now published in the European Journal of Political Economy, @LeaBernhardt4, @blog_m, and I examine the political positioning of the US news networks ABC News, CBS News, FOX News, and NBC News 2001-2012. Have a look! https://t.co/OWFe8FerPt
