I like public transit, urban design, computers, theology, and rap music, and seek to use all five for the glory of God. (Current job: transit planner.)
Also I know that tweet came out of nowhere. I cut back heavily on Twitter about a year ago because I was compulsively trying to read every tweet. Now I check the "Home" tab maybe 2-5 times a week. Much healthier mentally, but also fewer chances to share interesting things.
This video tour of Deutsche Bahn's new Wendlingen-Ulm line is a great overview of design considerations for a modern high-speed rail segment. And relaxing to watch besides! (There are English captions) https://t.co/s7VyyIYa56
One of my favorite scientific figures is this one of the entropy levels of 100 world cities by the orientation of streets. The cities with most ordered streets: Chicago, Miami, & Minneapolis. Most disordered: Charlotte, Sao Paulo, Rome & Singapore. Paper: https://t.co/DTd5JiahmF
Five buses on @GoDurhamTransit Route 5 (Fayetteville St-NCCU-Southpoint), providing service every 15 minutes. This may be the most buses GoDurham has ever run on a single service pattern at once!

Why are many white, conservative Christians calling for racial justice? Didn't we end discrimination years ago? This week I produced a video that packs 100 years of racial history into 17 minutes. I hope it helps make sense of all this! https://t.co/G4Wa9RuxAS via @YouTube
"From Out the Tomb the Saviour Comes," an Easter hymn by Benjamin Tucker Tanner (1835–1923), a bishop in the A.M.E. & one of the most accomplished African American theologians:
You never realize how much you touch your face until everyone tells you not to touch your face.
But now is a really good time to get used to not touching your face.
@jdttransit Though the best solution would be interagency coordination of issue reports. Like, if you called NCDOT about a pothole on a municipal street, they could just file a ticket with the relevant municipality, or vice versa.
@jdttransit In Morrisville street signs are marked "Town" (blue), "State" (white), or "Pvt" (yellow). They aren't the prettiest signs IMO but they do make it clear which is which. (Except that they aren't on the mast arm signs for traffic signals.)
@DurhamComplete @DavidFellerath The TouchPass system doesn't require passengers' phones to support NFC. Passengers install the TouchPass app, which displays a QR Code that they present to the reader on the bus. (The reader does read smart cards using NFC.)
