@fvc022 @FultonReed6 @hsukhdeo Crosby and Ovechkin are generational talents. Crosby was the closest thing to Gretzky. Ovechkin will go down as the greatest goal scorer ever (unless Matthews has something to say about that 😉).

@FultonReed6 @fvc022 @hsukhdeo By that definition yes I’d classify Matthews as a game changer. Teams plan specifically against a guy like Matthews and pay extra attention to him. I don’t think Hughes/Hischier/Lafreniere is on that level of my definition of a game changer. I don’t think Wright will be either.

@FultonReed6 @fvc022 @hsukhdeo I wouldn’t call Matthews a generational talent because McDavid, Draisaital, Mackinnon etc are all his generation and you can’t have multiple generational talents it doesn’t make sense. My definition of game changer would be someone opposing teams change their game plan for.

@FultonReed6 @fvc022 @hsukhdeo Any bottom feeder that gets a #1 pick (unless lottery driven) desperately needs them. The skill and talent of that #1 pick will always be a top 3-4 player on that bottom team. By the definition provided for game changer, every #1 pick is a game changer.

@fvc022 @FultonReed6 @hsukhdeo Well then you could argue there’s 3-4 game changers on each NHL team. Doesn’t mean much to say Shane Wright would be a top 4 player on the team that drafts him.

@FultonReed6 @fvc022 @hsukhdeo What do you classify as a game changer? I feel like the words thrown around too lightly. The players being mentioned by the other comment (Kaprizov, Tkachuck, Hellebuyck) I think All Stars is more appropriate. Wright will be an All Star, I don’t think he’ll be a game changer.

@FultonReed6 @fvc022 @hsukhdeo Ok so he’s not a game changer. I’d classify game changers as the #1 picks that come in and dominate right away like the great 8, Sid the kid, McDavid. Wright will be in that 2nd tier of #1 picks with Hughes, Dahlin, and Lafreniere.

@fvc022 @FultonReed6 @hsukhdeo I’m talking about #1 picks. They have additional pressure and are sometimes rushed. Other prospects don’t have the same level of pressure and are sometimes given more time in junior. All I’m saying is players don’t come in and dominate like AM34 anymore.

@FultonReed6 @fvc022 @hsukhdeo Do you believe Wright will put up more than 53 points or 0.65 PPG? Since AM34, Hischier had the highest PPG for a #1 pick in his rookie szn. Hughes and Lafreniere have both started slow. I think they’ll all be good including Wright but they aren’t game changers like AM34.
