Doing the “remote version” of TLC, this is such a supportive network in a profession that can feel so isolating. Thank you @jimknight99@teacherhead@DaileySuzanne (I can now shift my mindset thanks to you!). Looking forward to @Ready4rigor#TLC2023
@teacherhead@jimknight99 Watching your recording at home right now, wish I could be there. This book is gold! Need to add it to my collection. Thank you for your work!
@DeeSTEM_Teach Why is doing things to try to reach kids met with such hostility…you need a multitude of approaches to teach; objectives, knowing names, greeting students are just a part of it. Discuss your go to strategies instead of tearing others down
@MomentOfSwing @JasonAblin This is a serious question, can you name one thing the government funds 100% that is functioning well? Don’t think this is the solution. Government isn’t the answer!
@davestuartjr Schools are state run, the problem policy makers decide curriculum standards and admin (generally former teachers)constantly changing, not all teachers are effective leaders. Educator should make curriculum/testing decisions and superintendents should be business/leadership.
@BFC_530 1. Learned to make learning visible, created slide decks with explicit roles and tasks. I’ve always said it but somehow having it in front of a cooperative group is a game changer. 2. Also now I truly believe when kids know better they do better! 3. Standards based grading
Thank you @MrsParkShine for all your templates and ideas this is one inspired by you and I added help videos for students at the bottom since I can’t always get to 6 breakout rooms in a timely fashion!
I learned how to make thinking visible from @MrsParkShine org of g classroom from @DitchThatTxtbk truly believe now that when kids know better they do better, have kids color code their wk using single stream rubric created so they reflect on work before I grade @cultofpedagogy
I was asked to run a pd session next week, I came up with the idea of reflecting on what you have learned through the mess of teaching in 2020, when “normal” returns what new practices will you keep? Twitter educators, what did you all learn?
@bethhill2829 How about YES, modify them to be shorter and use them to see where the learning gaps are and create programs and plan for the future since there will be gaps in learning!!
@aserkin Ran separate labs last week, met for together as a class 1st, home s did a peardeck interactive lesson, IP did lab, groups flip this week and we will discuss the data together in breakout rooms. Liked how each kid could see the lab and one group had my full attention #bonding
@JWalterTeach Think gallery walk, sticky notes commenting on ideas. I pasted each groups interactive slide there and students commented on their work. Remove edit access when you teach as it is anonymous and the kids can use the pointer anonymously like laser tag
@aserkin Friday before I let my at home kids go to complete work I put them alone into breakout rooms and checked on them. They were more open and asked for another person to join them and actually stayed to work. These s wouldn’t talk in groups of 4!
