Yesterday was the final @CommonsEAC meeting for two crucial people who have played a huge role over the years.
Committee clerk Martyn Atkins and head of press Chloe Jago are both leaving and will be hugely missed.
Very grateful for their support since I became Chair. 🙏
And the 🏆 winners 🏆 of the #CBQuiz 2023 are...
The Climate Justice League (@CSEINDIA + @down2earthindia) playing all the way from Delhi India 🇮🇳
Congratulations, and thank you all for playing.

Off the charts gets a new meaning when we see the extraordinary run of climate records breaking. @WMO reports the hottest Sept ever – by a record-breaking margin - almost certainly ensuring 2023 will be the hottest year ever. https://t.co/Fkl7QcfitA
We have now done three rounds of this modelling using different price caps, and each round has shown that various combinations of low-carbon tech can save you money on your energy bills and reduce your carbon emissions - love to see it!🌎
Introducing the latest update to @WWF and @ScottishPower's Better Homes, Cooler Planet report! Supporting last year's results, it shows that low-carbon tech has the potential to save you money on your bills, despite the fluctuating cost of energy 🏡

Had some attacks for Met Office story from people saying: the weather varies, sometimes it's hot, sometimes cold, don't exaggerate.
Here I try to explain that yes weather will always vary.
But these trends are long-term. Although UK is chilly rn, overall it's getting hotter
🚨 NEW RESEARCH ALERT 🚨
We have launched our latest research with @ScottishPower and @FrontierEcon, looking at how far the @GOVUK's policies get us to meeting their 15% energy demand reduction target by 2030👇
https://t.co/tgA7W5eYGM
We have found that current policies will:
@GOVUK and @energygovuk need to continue to step up support for insulation and low-carbon heating, which is the quickest, cheapest and easiest way to reduce our emissions, energy bills, and addiction to fossil fuels.
.@GOVUK's own target is to reduce energy demand from homes and industry by 15% by 2030.
BUT: our new report with @ScottishPower & @FrontierEcon shows there is a substantial gap between committed policies and what we need.

@UKLabour are right to ban new oil and gas:
❌New O&G won't lower energy bills - even gov has admitted this
⛴️ 80% of oil & 60% of gas is exported, it's not used at home. So where's the energy security?
👷 Will stop reliance on declining & polluting industries
