This month I was sworn-in for a second term as Mayor of Shelby County, the largest and greatest county in our state. I am grateful for this incredible opportunity to serve and I’m looking forward to the next 4 years. Thank you, Shelby County.
Another “senior” prom for 65 and up in Memphis and Shelby County is in the books. Grateful to be in the presence of 100s of our most dedicated, long-term residents.
There’s no better time than 'right now' for a gas tax holiday as some TN families pay over $100 to fill up. As the legislature prepares to adjourn, let’s hope that before they do, they give Tennesseans a little relief in their pockets, and help families save at the pump.
15 mins ago, I was in the lane furthest from the street traveling down Poplar, near Highland, when a tiny child, definitely under 3, dashes out onto Poplar Avenue. Tarik Sugarmon darts out into the traffic and saves her. Without any doubt in my mind, the little girl would have been killed by one of the cars if he had not been there. Thank you, God. Thank you, Judge Sugarmon.
Along with Mayors Herenton, Young, and Wharton (not pictured), pleased to be in support of Willie Brooks’ re-election campaign for Register of Deeds. What an impressive crowd and outpouring of support for this very capable and accomplished incumbent.
Progress at the Youth Justice and Education Center continues! Family visitation has expanded to two days a week for two hours, and families can now have physical contact with their loved ones, supporting healing and positive outcomes for youth. #OnTrackWithYJEC
Pleased that the Court has issued a favorable decision on our motion for a temporary injunction, enjoining the National Guard deployment in Tennessee. The injunction does not take effect immediately, and the state has a chance to seek leave to appeal. However, this is a positive step toward ensuring the rule of law applies to everyone, including everyday Tennesseans and even the Governor
If members of Congress don't extend the Affordable Care Act, more than twenty million Americans will see their premiums soar. For those making $40k to $60k per year, monthly premiums will double. #TimetoAct#EndtheShutdown
I may have been a few hundred miles from West TN, but I truly felt at home in Blount County. Had a great meeting with dozens of East Tennesseans, many of whom were concerned about healthcare, particularly keeping our rural hospitals open, and investing in TN's infrastructure.
In the last two decades, these benefits, are now about $190 a month, have never been cut during a shutdown. That amount of help may not mean a lot to some, but to others it’s a vital lifeline. Let’s hope Tennessee officials can help fix this.
Hey Tennessee! Let’s all give a big 🙏🙏🙏 to @yarbro@LeeHarrisfor901 and @gabbysalinas for fighting for our freedom, our constitution, and our rights! https://t.co/xgQAXGBRKj

I've always LOVED supporting the next generation of leaders. I believe John Bradley represents the future of Memphis & Shelby County. If you'd like to meet him, please stop by Mud Island on Friday, before Zoo Rendezvous.
It was a great pleasure to host a town hall with Rep. John Ray Clemmons in Franklin County, one of the most beautiful places in Tennessee, and home to some of the most informed Tennesseans, all of whom are passionate about our state and its future. @jrclemmons#TNListeningTour
I'm encouraged by the strength in community that @jrclemmons and I witnessed during our visit to Wilson County last night. Tennessee is great because it has some of the greatest people. Looking forward to visiting Dickson County TONIGHT at 5pm, 128 N. Main Street.
