I am a tad younger & asked my 83 year old father, a retired Navy Seal. He has voted GOP his whole life & for Trump the 1st time. He voted DEM for the 1st time in 2024. He said this is the worst thing to ever happen to America & it is going to take decades to undo what Trump has all ready done. We are cooked.
Weird. I thought most people thought Putin was bad because of all the state sanctioned rape, murder, torture, kidnapping, lawless invasions, and that stuff. Who knew?
1/ An interesting analysis by ChatGPT on the psychological aspects of the meeting between Zelensky and Trump-Vance is circulating online.
It reveals a masterclass in gaslighting, manipulation, and coercion from Trump and his entourage. Let’s break it down.

If your response to Gen John Kelly, gold star father & Trump’s WH chief of staff, confirming that Trump praised Hitler & called members of our military “suckers and losers” is to defend Trump, you need to look in the mirror and realize your dishonor will live forever.
I am once again begging you not to believe any candidate who says the government is not helping in Western, NC.
I am here. FEMA, state, & federal resources are EVERYWHERE. The progress on our roads & power grid is phenomenal. My family has already gotten our check from FEMA. 1/2

In our new ad "Mr. Walz", Carly tells how she was a student bullied for her Christian faith until her teacher saw it happening.
Tim Walz not only stopped the bullying, he took the time to affirm her Christian identity - an experience that inspired her to become a TX public school teacher (recently named teacher of the year).
This ad will run nationally during the VP debate to our Christian audiences. Enjoy.

Dear World, the missiles launched today on Israel is solely the choice of the Islamic Republic. The Iranian people don’t want this attack. The Iranian people want to be freed from this regime that has kept them hostage for 45 years. The Iranian people want friendship, peace and allyship with Israelis. Iranians and Israelis are both victims of the same enemy. Praying for the safety and security of both Israelis and Iranians at this very tense moment.
A reminder to journalists and pundits that the Islamic Republic is not Iran. The Iranian people largely detest the regime, which is not representative of or accountable to them, and which prioritizes its revolutionary ideology over Iran’s national interests.
@JonahDispatch Vance is “winning” from a debate rules /competition standpoint, but I think Walz is winning the trust factor, the likable, “I’m one of you” contest.
People seem surprised that I dropped out of high school twice and still went on to get a PhD in astrophysics.
My experience is an object lesson in how education is not a one-size-fits-all solution.
I loved school until I hit the 7th grade. Before that, I was a high-achiever who never had to be told to do my schoolwork. But once I got to middle school and junior high, it was the worst. I came to loathe school.
The combination of the gross social scene and the utterly boring curriculum was too much for me. I started to get in a lot of trouble. I finally dropped out for a year in the 9th grade and then again after 10th grade. I spent those years drawing, reading, and exploring nature. Those were good years.
I tried homeschooling after 10th grade, but I didn't do well without structure.
My dad finally found something that worked for me. He enrolled me and my brother in an International Baccalaureate school, though it took some convincing for the admins to accept a low-performing dropout.
The combination of the right environment, with awesome teachers and high-achieving nerds, and challenging material was exactly right.
I also needed to be athletically challenged. My dad owned and managed gyms, and I started spending a lot of time there, prepping to become a bodybuilder.
And I worked two part-time jobs after school that I absolutely loved.
I needed to be busy and challenged and with the right kind of people to flourish. Those final two years of high school ended up being a very happy time for me and my brother, and set us up for our eventual careers in STEM (bro got a PhD, too).
We have our dad to thank for a lot of that. He let me drop out both of those times, much to the consternation of the rest of the family. But it was an important step in preserving my mental health. He then found the right solution me and my bro and advocated for us.
Please keep this in mind if you have a child who's struggling with school. Every kid is unique, and you can find a solution that works if you're willing to be a bit out-of-the-box.
