@IsabellaofMar @volcaholic1 Sometimes I feel previous eras of being thrifty was mostly due to economics - my mum who was once insanely thrifty simply shrugs when I tell her to stop being so wasteful, as she has enough resources not to care about such trivial things. Now she hoards from Temu etc.

I know people in the police and they will move you cities away from your abuser getting you a new alias.
Since Jimmy Saville etc there's much less stigma around reporting it.

In the US you report it and they won't even bother logging it depending on skin colour.
In other countries they'll laugh you out of the police station and escort you back to your abuser (husband / partner).

Some did qualify for loans / grants from their nation country though.

@bigbirdNYC27 @PoliticsAndEd In London (UK), bike lanes are generally as wide as emergency service vehicles. Cyclists can clear a route way quicker than gridlocked vehicle traffic although our emergency service vehicles are very much more efficiently sized than US ones.

In the US you're free to live out your dream, you can even find places where there's a monthly charge for a fire service - less socialist.
