@tarapalmeri The argument also requires framing Collins as a tremendous evil which feels like a stretch but has been largely embraced by many on the left and in the media.
@JakeSherman He's young and can do incredible things. Still, I'm not sure why the NBA is so eager to make him the face of the league. He's kind of unpleasant on the court. Not the worst by any stretch. But not the guy every kids wants to emulate.
@ggreenwald While the story appeared yesterday, the woman didn't just "materialize."
NY Times was working on this story for months. Some reports suggest they were trying to bury it until too much evidence mounted.
@DennisPCrawford@maxpcohen@JakeSherman Enabled? She's voted with Republicans. But lots of people voted with Republicans. And guess what, lots of people voted for Trump.
We know very few things about Platner and most of them are red flags. That people support him is a sign of high-cost virtue signalling.
@bossert_l@matthewstoller The article mentions three women who expressed concerns and another 3 (supplied by Platner) who say he was ok.
As for the interview, nobody's saying that he's not good at this. He's very good at this. But in terms of who he is and what makes him tick, we have mostly red flags.
@EmmaVigeland I don't know. Even the fact that he has prepared a list of three ex-girlfriends to bolster his character, of which two say he was not that bad, should be a red flag.
@matthewstoller Also two other women. And there is evidence in saved communications with him.
The Times has been mostly cheerleading for him despite numerous red flags. There are reports that they tried to bury this story but the evidence simply got to great.
@AliceFromQueens@jbarro The low-conscientiousness is in service to high-cost virtue signalling. Fetterman was next-level in this regard because he not only looked like a slob but was essentially non-functional for most of the campaign. But there's tremendous virtue signalling in ignoring red flags.
@matthewstoller So we prefer someone in the Senate who's going to embarrass himself and his state over and over because of PTSD over an opponent whose biggest flaw seems to be that she's old.
@brhodes As a public figure you should be better than this. It’s technically true, but purposely misleading, to suggest that any politicians or the thousands of others who marched were marching “with Smotrich.”
@StrangelEdweird@TheFIREorg In a perfect world, Uygur and Piker could travel freely AND citizens in the UK would recognize that "their presence...may not be conducive to the public good."
@BriannaWu@Madonna Me neither:
Madonna has been culturally irrelevant for more than a quarter century. It's a testament her work in the 80s/90s that she continues to ride that reputation.
@mattyglesias Is it the “close Guantanamo Bay” of the 2028 Deonocratic primary? I actually don’t think so. It seems like candidates may be incentivized to come up with the worst possible things to say about Jews.
