لا يختبر القدر العاديين. إنه ينتظر العظماء حتى يوشكوا على ملامسة الكمال، ثم يترك فيهم ثغرة واحدة لا تندمل. وفوق كتفي كريستيانو رونالدو استقرت تلك الثغرة، كما تستقر الندبة على وجه تمثال لا يشيخ.

كانت حياته محاولة متواصلة لإثبات أن الإرادة تستطيع إعادة كتابة قوانين الطبيعة. حارب الزمن كما لو كان خصماً في الملعب. روّض الجسد حتى بدا أنه خرج من حدود البيولوجيا. حوّل الانضباط إلى عقيدة والعمل إلى قدر حتى غدت سيرته احتجاجاً دائماً على فكرة الحدود. وكلما اعتقد الناس أن النهاية اقتربت عاد ليؤجلها وكأنه يخوض مباراته ضد الفناء أكثر مما يخوضها ضد خصومه.

ثم وقف أمام كأس العالم. وكانت تلك اللحظة التي صمتت فيها الإرادة، ونطق القدر.

كتبت رويترز: «رغم كل أرقامه، لم يستطع رونالدو فك شفرة كأس العالم». في هذه العبارة تختبئ مفارقة تتجاوز كرة القدم. يستطيع الإنسان أن ينتصر على منافسيه وأن يهزم التعب وأن يتجاوز ما ظنه الآخرون مستحيلاً ثم يجد نفسه أمام باب لا يُفتح إلا إذا وافق القدر.

كل عظيم يحمل تصدعاً يطارده. ذلك التصدع يمنح العظمة معناها الأعمق. فالسيرة التي تبلغ تمامها تتحول إلى نصب رخامي صامت. أما السيرة التي تحتفظ بأثر مبتور فتظل نابضة بالحياة لأن الأسئلة لا تموت. الامتلاء المطلق يترك وراءه إعجاباً عابراً. أما الغياب فيترك أثراً يستدعي التأمل الطويل.

كان إميل سيوران يرى أن النقص ينقذ الإنسان من عبادة نفسه. وعند إسقاط هذه الفكرة على رونالدو تنكشف طبقة أعمق من المأساة. فقد عُرف طوال مسيرته بسعيه الدائم إلى تجاوز الإنسان في داخله عبر العمل والانضباط والإرادة. وكأن القدر حجب عنه الكأس حتى يحول دون اكتمال صورته.

وربما كانت تلك الثغرة ضرورة وجودية أكثر من كونها خسارة رياضية. فالتصدع يغدو كبحاً تراجيدياً لجبروت الإرادة الإنسانية. ويبقى صاحبه إنساناً في قلب الأسطورة. فالأساطير المغلقة تنتهي عند لحظة إحكامها. أما الأساطير التي تحمل ندبة فتظل قابلة لإعادة القراءة مع كل جيل.

ومن هنا تلتقي حكايته مع الحساسية الجمالية عند شارل بودلير. كان يبحث عن الجمال في التوتر بين المثال والزوال وبين ما يشرق وما يتداعى. فاللامكتمل يمنح الأشياء عمراً أطول من الكمال. وتتجلى هذه اللحظة البودليرية في ذلك المشهد المهيب. دموع رونالدو في الممر الضيق المؤدي إلى غرف الملابس بعد ليلة الإقصاء. كما باحت بذلك تضاريس وجهه.

في ذلك الممر المعتم انهار المثال الصارم وظهر الإنسان بكل هشاشته. تلك الدموع وذلك الجسد المنهك شكلا الشق الصغير في التمثال. ومن خلال ذلك الشق دخل الزمن إلى الأسطورة وسكنت الذاكرة فيها. ولهذا نعود إلى تلك الصورة مرة بعد أخرى.

لو عاد رونالدو من كأس العالم بالكأس لانغلقت حكايته كما تنغلق الدائرة. وكان التاريخ سيمنحه خاتمة سعيدة ثم يطوي الصفحة الأخيرة. أما اليوم فقد بقيت الصفحة مفتوحة. وبقي سؤال واحد يرافق اسمه أكثر من كل أرقامه. كيف استطاع رجل أن يهزم حتمية الزمن ثم يعجز أمام الصدفة؟

يمثل الزمن تلك الحتمية البيولوجية القاسية التي استطاع رونالدو ترويضها بعبقرية الانضباط. وتمثل الصدفة ذلك العنصر المنفلت الذي يتشكل في تفاصيل مباراة واحدة وفي ارتداد كرة وفي لحظة لا تخضع للحساب. انتصر على الجسد وانتصر على الوقت وانتصر على حدود الطاقة البشرية. ثم وجد نفسه أمام عالم لا تعترف قوانينه بالإرادة وحدها. عالم يحكمه الاحتمال كما يحكمه الجهد.

خرج رونالدو من المونديال محملاً بكل ما يمكن لإرادة بشرية أن تنتزعه من مخالب الفناء. وترك خلفه تلك الكأس العصية. غيابها منح إرثه بعده التراجيدي ومنح حكايته خلودها. فالذاكرة البشرية يصيبها الملل من النهايات الكاملة. وهي تعود دائماً إلى الحكايات التي تركت سؤالاً مفتوحاً وإلى الأبطال الذين حملوا معهم ثغرة واحدة لا تندمل.

Earlier today, I joined the ARISE TV Morning Show to discuss two critical issues that affect every Lagosian: flooding and waste management.

One point I made very clear is that while we can significantly mitigate flooding, it would be unrealistic to promise its complete eradication. Lagos is a coastal city, and the combined impact of climate change, rising sea levels, rapid urbanisation, and decades of development on wetlands has made flooding an increasingly complex challenge. Our responsibility is to remain proactive by investing in drainage infrastructure, enforcing physical planning regulations, removing obstructions from drainage channels, and leveraging data and science to strengthen our flood management strategies.

I also addressed the recent waste collection challenges and offered my sincere apologies to Lagosians. Government must always acknowledge service gaps and remain accountable to the people. However, we are not standing still. We are transitioning from the traditional “collect and dump” approach to a more sustainable circular economy model, where waste is transformed into valuable resources through recycling, composting, and waste-to-energy initiatives. That transformation is already underway.

Governance is not about making unrealistic promises or offering easy answers. It is about making informed, evidence-based decisions that serve the long-term interests of our people.
