@Max17a8@TheStrickland@swipathefox He didn’t show up at all last night. A half decent game from him and the Spurs win. He was atrocious, especially in the 4Q. Dude was playing like he had money on the game
@TheRedStripesSG I think everyone was happy with the status quo for a long time.
Big markets spend, small don’t and get paid just to play.
It’s hard to win in playoffs even with more money.
But then LAD took it to a different level and now everyone knows the season is mostly pointless
@Kswing6@acase22@baseballisdead_@Feinsand Because this isn’t about making more at one sales job or another. It’s entertainment that depends on a league of teams being able to drive value across the entire market.
The MLB is not a free market in any way, it’s closed. And it can’t just succeed in 2 markets long term
@MattWallace888@cnbusiness1 As a Conservative… STFU with this, you make us all look like complaining bitches.
These guys weren’t taking a knee, they weren’t protesting anything. They were doing the same as most of us in the stands would.
And to pick on a French guy, lol.
@bawfuls@thestevenwoods@RockNSportsGREG Also, McCourt had driven them to the verge of bankruptcy because of his divorce and personal expenses. Had nothing to do with the Dodgers paying players.
@thx6969@thestevenwoods@RockNSportsGREG Hey genius, you gonna mention the Dodgers were going bankrupt because the McCourts were getting divorced and personally leveraging the team funds for it?
Or just say it’s because they try so hard to win?
@MulhollandL0ver@Breaking911 Why are grown adults so cultishly excited by a trans person doing a ridiculous dance?
It’s not the fact that the dancers are doing this, who cares… it’s the look on those people’s faces. Looks like weird people at a religious event with some crazed preacher up front
@orchard_drew Eh, as a Spurs fan... his ego took over post Duncan and he ran Kawhi out of town and ruined the team while spending every press conference insulting half the city and making politics the core face of the Spurs for like 7 years. Refused to rebuild bc he didnt want to do the work
@kegt42@BostonMMAGuy@MetCastPod They would certainly generate MORE revenue. never enough to pay someone big.
LAD get $1.1B/yr revenue
Brewers have $350M
costs of operating a team are roughly the same, meaning this doesn't scale. Every extra $ the Dodgers make becomes play money, while MIL is covering basics
@kegt42@BostonMMAGuy@MetCastPod They have a great farm system for sure, but it also helps when you no longer need those guys in the MLB (because you bought a FA at their position) and can just trade them for more all stars every season.
@kegt42@BostonMMAGuy@MetCastPod sigh... Brewers revenue (before any expenses) is $354M. Ohtani signed a $700M contract. Thats likely 20 years of Brewers' net operating income. The Dodgers have $2.2B in contracts right now which is more than the net worth of the Brewers franchise. LAD could have just bought them
@DjSmith24007564@HeyScholz@CJVogel_OTF You guys still pushing that ridiculous talking point?
You know better. Riley’s bitch ass wanted out so the AD came up with a ploy to offer a bad faith scenario they knew ND couldn’t say yes to. Then ran off saying “look ND won’t say yes!”
Sad little people.
@TravisMcCain5@KurtBevacqua Yes. I understand math.
But when you are talking about a random guy on the Pirates who signs a $20M contract over 5 years you say “he signed a $20M contract” not “well actually that’s only $17.3M”
The only reason to say anything different is to lowball what the LAD are doing
