It’s almost that time of year again!
Our Poppy campaign is quickly approaching! Every year from the last Friday in October to November 11, millions of Canadians wear a Poppy to honour Canada’s Veterans and Remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms that we enjoy today.
The Poppy is always distributed for free to all who wish to wear one. During the Poppy campaign, the Legion will gratefully accept donations to the Poppy Fund. Learn more about the Poppy campaign at: https://t.co/FnKK6iYUAC

On Merchant Navy Veterans Day, we honor Canada’s Merchant Navy's Veterans. Since 2003, Sept 3 marks their sacrifices, mirroring the UK’s Merchant Navy Day. In the Second World War nearly 1 in 7 Canadian mariners died delivering vital supplies.

On this day in 1945, Japan signed an official statement of surrender ending the Second World War.
After Germany’s surrender on May 8, 1945, the Japanese Army was the only remaining Axis Power continuing to fight the allied forces. Their surrender came just under four years after the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain declared war on Japan following the attack on Pearl Harbor. We Remember the more than 10,000 Canadians who had served and the countless lives lost. #WeWillRememberThem

I've posted over 120 photos to date of RAF pilots lost during the Battle of Britain, since the 10th of July and will continue to do so until the official ending on the 31st October. We Will Remember Them.

Fourteen years ago, Canada's combat mission in Afghanistan came to an end. Today, we remember the men and women who served and sacrificed with courage. We also honour those who lost their lives during and after their mission was over.

The Royal Canadian Legion thanks and supports our Canadian Armed Forces members being dispatched to Manitoba to help cope with the fires raging there. Both our MB and SK Commands are currently working with local Legion branches and emergency officials to offer Legion space to help with relief efforts in both provinces where needed and possible. Our thoughts remain with all those battling these devastating fires.

Today marks 77 years of UN Peacekeeping.
Canada played a vital role in the establishment of UN peacekeeping, and more than 125,000 Canadians have served in UN peace operations. Not surprisingly, Canadians consider peacekeeping part of the country’s identity.
