Hey Jasmine…
Black pilot here.
I think you missed the plot.
Then again, that’s becoming a pattern.
I graduated from West Point.
I went through Army flight school.
I learned to fly the AH-64 Apache.
I deployed to combat and flew 55 combat missions over Baghdad.
Nobody handed me a cockpit because of my skin color.
Nobody lowered the standards for me.
Nobody looked at me and said, “Let’s check a diversity box.”
That’s what people like you don’t seem to understand.
Suggesting that Black pilots, Black engineers, Black doctors, or Black leaders need special preferences to succeed is not empowering, it’s insulting.
I didn’t want a different standard.
I wanted the same standard.
And when you’re flying into combat, the American people don’t care what race the pilot is.
They care whether the pilot is qualified.
Merit isn’t racist.
Excellence isn’t discriminatory.
And reducing every achievement to skin color says far more about your worldview than it does about mine.
A 24-year-old Polish tennis player arrived in Paris last week ranked 114th in the world, with no sponsors, no guaranteed income, and no certainty she could even pay for her hotel room.
She had to win three qualifying matches just to enter the French Open main draw. Prize money is only paid at the end of the tournament, so a Polish sports drink brand quietly stepped in and covered her hotel bill.
Her name is Maja Chwalinska. And today, she plays in the French Open final.
Before this tournament, she had won exactly one Grand Slam main draw match in her entire career. She had battled depression so severe that in 2021 she couldn't get out of bed. She underwent knee surgery in 2022. She spent years grinding through small tournaments across Europe just to stay afloat.
Then she arrived in Paris, won three qualifiers, and kept winning. Zheng Qinwen. Elise Mertens. Maria Sakkari. Diana Shnaider. Nine straight matches. One set dropped.
She is now the first qualifier in French Open history to reach the final. The last time a qualifier reached a Grand Slam final, it was Emma Raducanu at the 2021 US Open. Raducanu won.
By simply making the final, Chwalinska has earned more prize money than her entire career combined. The runner-up cheque alone is $1.6 million. If she wins today, she takes home $3.25 million.
One week ago she couldn't pay for her hotel room.
@Daredevil_1892@footiestatto And Dom will negotiate for higher than Grav and Gakpo and From July onwards, he'll have less than 2 years left on his current deal.
Firstly, corporate South Africa doesn’t take Bafana Bafana seriously. During a World Cup season that only comes every 4 years, Sandton is still full of formal wear… no Bafana shirts, no scarves, no regalia. Nothing💔
I played rugby, went to a proper rugby school, and we never even watched soccer🥲. Yet during rugby tournaments, schools we put up big screens literally everywhere and had our T shirts as and when we wanted😭😂
Please, let’s take Bafana seriously. Every Friday, companies should push people to wear Bafana Bafana jerseys and rally behind the country🙏
@PaulSmiff@TheAnfieldWrap People also forget Konate's father passed away in jan.
I'd imagine him dealing with the death of Diogo was tough is it was... But we don't know how ill his father was leading up to his death.
This might have been too tough to deal with for the best of players.
@DiscooDave1969@AnythingLFC_ He would be right there at the AXA looking at Grav on 280k/week and Gakpo on 250k/week thinking long and hard about his 50k/week and seeing how rubbish the other 2 have been.
What a season from the skipper, VVD 💪
I don’t think Liverpool would have finished in a Champions League place without him!
Been massive for Liverpool 🙌
My choice for player of the season.
Agree?

@ZenWayof@LFCZA Yeah, that's not gonna happen.
The squad, including new players, will only be altogether for maybe 2 and a Half weeks, maybe 3 weeks before the season starts?
And to Andy Robertson, thanks to the best left back I’ve been lucky enough to see since Alan Kennedy. Won it all, left his mark and a Liverpool legend for ever.
