It has been 74days since 18 Cambodian soldiers were captured under the captivity of the Thai military. Cambodia urgently calls on the Thai side to release them as soon as possible, so that they may be safely reunited with their families in accordance with international humanitarian law.

It must also be underscored that the Royal Government of Cambodia has been and will continue to make tireless efforts, using all available mechanisms for Thai military to release and return our 18 soldiers as quickly and safely as possible.
The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence, and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces will never abandon any of our troops under any circumstances.

On the morning of Friday 10th October 2025, the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in coordination with the Interim Observer Team (IOT) has conducted the field mission to Chok Chey and Prey Chan villages in O'Bei Chon commune, O'Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province. This visit is conducted in order to observe, verify, and report on the border situation after the Ceasefire came into effect.

In accordance with the plan, the Interim Observer Team (IOT) would conduct frequent visit to the aforementioned villages throughout the whole week in order to monitor the prevailing situation.

History is being written right now.

President Donald J. Trump has praised Cambodian leadership in an official White House letter after Prime Minister Hun Manet nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. In that letter, Trump honored Cambodia’s long history, praised Hun Manet as a strong leader who values peace, and reminded the world that his ceasefire deal ended the bloodshed with Thailand, saved thousands of lives, and opened the door to prosperity.

And Cambodia is not alone. Leaders from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Gabon, Israel, Pakistan, and Rwanda have all joined the call for Trump to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Why? Because Trump delivers results. He issued ultimatums. He threatened tariffs. He forced both Cambodia and Thailand back to the negotiating table. And he brought peace where the world thought it was impossible.

Now compare that to China. This week, Cambodia’s King and Queen Mother traveled to Beijing to meet Xi Jinping. But according to Cambodian sources close to the meeting, the encounter was little more than a staged photo-op. Ambassadors filled the room, Xi walked in, shook hands, posed for pictures, and walked out. No pressure on Thailand. No consequences for breaking the ceasefire. No accountability. Just optics.

The contrast is undeniable:
👉 Trump threatened consequences and delivered peace.
👉 China smiled for cameras and gave Thailand cover to keep violating the truce.

Beijing thrives on destabilization. Chaos on Cambodia’s border weakens America, undermines Trump, and shields Thailand’s military generals.

So let’s be clear: while Trump is being nominated worldwide as the man of peace, China is playing games, protecting Thailand, and testing America’s resolve.
