The most incredible statistic in baseball this year might belong to White Sox prospect Nick Madrigal, the No. 4 overall pick in last year's draft who's already at Double-A.
Madrigal has 241 plate appearances this year -- and only six strikeouts. That's a 2.5% K rate.
@jaysonst My co host on Sirius Radio (wife) Andrea Lamont came up with a Great baseball term...The pitcher entering the game in the pressure situation (Andrew Miller was the 1st) has been called The EFFECTOR for the past 8 yrs. A much catchier name than The Opener LOL Thanks
Josh Bell is the 1st Pirate with 40+ hits and 30+ RBIs in a month since Dave Parker in August 1978 (45 hits, 31 RBIs). Bell has 51 RBIs, tied with Cody Bellinger for the most in majors. Bell/Bellinger are 1st to reach 50 RBIs by June 1 since 2014 (Cruz, Stanton).

Max Scherzer is on pace to become the second @MLB pitcher in the last 100 years with a season of 300+ strikeouts . . . and 17+ losses. Nolan Ryan (1976 Angels) was the other. @MLBNetwork
Reminder: Mets do have insurance on Cespedes. Of course, they had to pay the premiums (presumably not cheap considering how often the insurer has to pay out). The insurer (and team) may also want to look at how the ranch accident occurred that see if YC violated his contract too.
By using the term “foreseeable future,” to say how long Callaway will be Mets manager, Van Wagenen didn’t paint himself into corner. Best guess here is, Callaway is safe for a week, maybe two. A month? Perhaps. But the season? Not likely.
We all know that Christian Yelich's second half last year was *unreal*, but, still, have we discussed the following:
2018 1st half Yelich: 11 HR in 82 games
2019 1st half Yelich: 14 HR in 28 games (including 1 tonight)
Bryce Harper’s 2018 walk-year slash line for the #Nationals: .249/.393/.496. Harper’s 1st year with the #Phillies slash line entering the weekend: .253/.393/.495. It will be interesting if this is him: Really good, not great.
At 25 years, 163 days old, Lindor is the third-youngest shortstop to reach 100 homers, behind only Alex Rodriguez (23 years,16 days) and Cal Ripken Jr (24 years, 356 days).
Among guys with at least a dozen starts since last year's All-Star break ....
Mike Minor ranks 4th in BA allowed at .198 behind Ian Snell (.161), Mike Clevinger (.172) and Trevor Bauer (.194).
In case he *does* homer on the road this week...
Christian Yelich is the 1st player to hit at least his 1st 13 HR of a season at home since Dante Bichette in 1995 (1st 17).
Modern Era MLB record: 19 by 1914 Gavvy Cravath. Those 19 were his *ONLY* HR that year

Joey Gallo hit his first sacrifice fly. It came in his 1,337th PA. Only Greg Maddux (1,405) and Steve Sax (1,388) went deeper into their career before getting their first sac fly. Gallo has 96 HRs. Next most HRs before getting first sac fly is 50 by Wily Mo Pena.
