🌍 On #WorldSocialWorkDay, we celebrate social service workers who are the backbone of child protection across all contexts.
At @UNICEF,we strengthen child protection systems across 150+ countries and prioritize social workers as a commitment to children’s safety and well-being.
Today on World Social Work day, we celebrate the women and men who work so hard to ensure that every child is protected from harm in Rwanda. Social Workers and Psychologists - the Child Protection and Welfare Officers (CPWOs) who work day and night to build a safe and secure environment for children, preventing any form of abuse and neglect and ensuring that families receive all the necessary support to keep their children safe, and within nurturing and supportive family settings.
I salute every social worker in Rwanda for their great work and dedication to the service of humanity throughout the life-cycle. They are there to hold our hands in whatever situation and whatever stage of our lives. Their support is inter-generational, yet we never appreciate them enough.
I am proud and humbled to have interacted, worked with and witnessed first hand, the selflessness of these great women and men. #WSWD2025

@FidelisMatiashe@ndururani4real @Master16MC Zim social work graduates are well sort the world over making it one of the best programs for global positioning. Doing law at MSU is also equally good. A student going for social work at UZ or law at MSU as first choice is all good.
Can you join us to enhance a safe and secure environment for all children in Rwanda? Let’s do it by preventing and responding to various ills including family conflicts and violence against children #Childprotection
Social Workers and indeed, all social services workforce play a critical role in the delivery and coordination of child protection services. Their role is not an ‘either or’ matter. The call for more social workers comes at the right time for #childprotection in Rwanda.
“There’s really just one thing I want to talk with you about today: Rwanda needs more social workers in the sectors & districts.”
In her remarks, @LindseyJulianna highlighted the need for more social workers & called on Ministries to seriously discuss this in 2023/24 budgeting.
