Japan Joins the Reusable Rocket Club! 🚀
In a milestone that could reshape Asia’s space ambitions, Japan’s experimental RV-X reusable rocket successfully blasted off, hovered, maneuvered horizontally, and landed safely during its very first test flight on Saturday.
The short but crucial hop — lasting under a minute — saw the rocket rise about 11 meters (36 feet), shift sideways 16 meters (52 feet) while staying perfectly upright, and touch down precisely at JAXA’s Noshiro Testing Center in northeastern Japan.
This low-altitude success marks a key step toward developing fully reusable launch vehicles — technology long mastered by SpaceX that dramatically slashes costs. With this achievement, Japan is positioning itself to compete more aggressively in the global space market, reducing reliance on expensive disposable rockets and aiming for more frequent, affordable access to orbit.
JAXA’s reusable rocket project is gaining momentum, and Saturday’s flawless test has engineers and space enthusiasts buzzing about what’s next.
Japan is officially in the game. 🌍✨

Happy 80th birthday to my friend George W. Bush!
Your friendship—and that of your father and your entire family—has been one of the great gifts of my life. It has always reminded me that long before we’re politicians, we’re fellow Americans and, above all, human beings.
And for the next month, I’m especially grateful to finally have someone older than me! Wishing you many more years of good health, happiness, and friendship.
Our country is stronger when we remember that what unites us is greater than what divides us.
