Breaking News: Homeland Security agents executed a search warrant at the home of Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. The Justice Department has historically avoided such investigative moves related to political candidates so close to elections. https://t.co/SZIbbIZmRH

Gloria Steinem understood power: of women, words and coalitions, and she used that power to transform a stubborn nation.
She built alliances without concern for how cynics might perceive them - and she lifted leaders long before others understood their promise.
Meeting heroes always risks disappointment, but knowing Gloria was an honor, where her humor and kindness were matched by a relentless belief that we could be better.
May the Lord bless her family and all who loved her.
Photon-counting CT is changing what we can see in the heart and lungs — and we're looking for a fellow to help lead that.
We are recruiting a Clinical Research Fellow in at the Royal Brompton Hospital to work with our two photon counting CTs dedicated to cardiothoracic imaging.
Happy 96th Birthday to our Queen 👑 @NanetteWenger
For paving the way
For opening the doors
For ensuring we are heard and for amplifying our voices
For teaching me to always take the high road but also for showing me when to get into the trenches
For teaching me when to say yes, and when to say no
For standing up for what is right
For being a mentor, sponsor, teacher and friend
We are blessed by having you in our lives
Have the Happiest Birthday. Love you!
I was the discussant for this trial at ESC. my take - too few higher risk, not intensive enough treatment goals, need more comprehensive bp and lifestyle recs. But, a huge start in the discussion to improve the initial risk assessment for primary prevention.
thanks for sharing @DrMarthaGulati
My take on seeing the results shared on social media
1. CorCal, randomized trial of CAC vs PCE-guided statin allocation, found 72 vs 73 MACE events.... 2.7% in both arms (HR 0.99, 95% CI 0.72–1.38). No detected difference
2. Likely designed for much higher sample size and events, significantly less events then expected, probably stopped earlier..... unrealistic non inferiority bar, just hard to reach any conclusion (same, inferior, non inferior) but to be honest one can say no difference
3. I wonder if you think, should CAC be really considered a screening test? one should expect much higher use of statin if used for screening, actually shows CAC test to be a “subtractor” rather than adding treatment
4. This reframes the pragmatic question....whether a strategy that treats fewer appropriately selected patients causes harm?
5. CorCal appeared to show no MACE penalty with the more selective CAC strategy. This is reassuring, although not definitive proof of safety or equivalence (for now)
6. Adherence always our achilles heel. With CAC, individuals were considerably more likely to take statins (probably also higher dose), and achieved better LDL control
7. In essence, CAC allowed fewer patients to be directed toward therapy while strengthening treatment commitment among those selected.
8. This aligns with its current guideline role as a selective shared decision-making tool, and how used in clinical practice for the most…..not universal screening or a stand-alone treatment mandate
9. The key pending analysis is cost-effectiveness, including imaging, downstream testing, medication burden, events, and QALYs (societal value proposition)

Automated #DeepLearning–quantified TPV improved prediction of first coronary events beyond SCORE2, CAC, and coronary CTA measures, identifying elevated risk even with small plaque volumes in people without established #ASCVD. https://t.co/9WZGM8zfxx

A very proud moment: my new proposed definition of MINOCA with the “I” for “injury” and not “infarction”, has been adopted worldwide by the 5th Definition of Myocardial Infarction Guideline by @escardio, @ACCinTouch, @AHAScience@worldheartfed
An important step in making an accurate diagnosis for adequate treatment.

Caristo’s CaRi-Heart® debuts in the U.S.! A landmark moment for #cardiovascularcare — and a major win for science, clinicians, and patients! 🎉CaRi-Heart has received U.S. FDA De Novo authorization, becoming the first and only technology authorized in the U.S. to detect and quantify coronary inflammation from routine coronary CT angiography (CCTA).
This milestone reflects more than a decade of pioneering science, relentless work, and shared belief in a future where cardiovascular disease can be detected earlier, treated more personally, and patients can live longer, healthier lives.

Congratulations to Dr. Deepak L. Bhatt on his appointment as the Dean for Clinical Research–Industry Partnerships at @IcahnMountSinai. As Dean, @DLBHATTMD will spearhead efforts to build an integrated Health System-wide clinical trial portfolio that advances scientific discovery.
Where do u draw the line?
Majority in our SCCT debate agreed “Power of Zero” is good enough… as also has the “Power of Value”
Great reporting @TCTMD_Yael 👏👏
