⚠️Women may not need as much coronary plaque as men to get into trouble.

A major advancement in cardiovascular care: A new international study led by Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, MBA, Director of Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital, has found that sotagliflozin, an FDA-approved SGLT inhibitor for type 2 diabetes and kidney disease, significantly reduces heart attacks and strokes. Published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, the trial is the first to demonstrate these unique benefits from dual SGLT1 and SGLT2 inhibition. The findings could shift how we treat cardiovascular risk in patients with diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
