Woods is the exact type of player you would consider trading Made for
He is a sure thing, young, plays INF at a position of need. Under team control, and is a guy who could be an MVP
This is on the level of combining getting CC with Yelich in terms of franchise altering
@BrewPack8 Fischer is likely not the future at 3rd base he is likely the future of DH. He won’t be the long term DH until sometime next year or 2028 when Yelich is no longer on the team. Which opens the door to see him at 3rd.
@Guy25Rando12987@lunax6011@Elprez_epm@CalMcGinnis Alvarez has been the best hitter in the league so far IMO but I’m taking Schwarber over Alvarez if this is a 1 for 1 but I’m also a Brewers Fans so we need HR high OPS guys we have plenty of guys that can get on base
@Elprez_epm@CalMcGinnis A historically balanced lineup is
High BA
High BA
Best Player
High OPS
High OPS
6-8
Worst players
9 worst player or high OBP
This has changed some during the past few years with now a lot more teams leading off or batting their best player 1 or 2
@lunax6011@Elprez_epm@CalMcGinnis The problem I have is OPS doesn’t take into account defensive players I personally would use WAR as a better indication then either average or batting average.
But with that said typically this is why you have high batting average player in front of high ops guys
@Elprez_epm@CalMcGinnis Arguing a higher OPS vs Higher BA is stupid. Both matter, and for a team to be really good you need both guys. Very few teams have enough guys elite enough at both metrics, you need guys to rack up pitch counts, get on base anyway possible, and guys to come up with big hits
@horny4beer@MatthewMKE98 This is why you call Jones up is if he plays well he stays up if not you DFA him and you don’t start the clock on Williams.
Plus you can manage for a week without Hamilton.
If this was long term then you bring Williams up because he likely wouldn’t get sent back down
The start today is one of the most important games pitched for Miz
Yes he gave up 3 ERs
But here ate up 7 innings after a very taxed bullpen of late needs some rest
2 games today and 5 in 4 days long starts are needed
He bounced back from his last start
Oh and they won
I like this kid a lot, and the idea of getting “Kyle Schwarber” at 22 years old is intriguing if he turns out to be only the 2nd guy to ever be a DH, put up 60HRs yet still break the record for strikeouts
My point is that is a lot to hope for and it is a big jump from AA to MLB
-5 HRs in his last 7 games
-10 HRs in his last 20 games
-28 HRs in 70 minor league games this year
That's good for a 162 game pace of 65 HRs! Andrew Fischer has been unstoppable. He won't be in AA for much longer
I’d look for Sal to take over the Perkins role with Lara in OF, and then it would be Chourio, Mitchell, Lara with Bauers taking more 1st base and Vaughn/Yelich as DH at least for the time being
Mitchell is hitting really well the last month and Bauers has to be in the lineup
Kinda confused if I’m being real. You don’t call up a top prospect to play a couple days a week. He’s not starting over Churro, Mitchell, or Sal (even if you want that).
@TJStats What I will say is if it was ruled a hit I wouldn’t argue it was close
But 1st should have caught it (I think out)
But also the positioning of 1st basemen is not very good if he puts his foot to the front side of the base and a reach towards the throw makes it an easy out
@AdamMcCalvy I wouldn’t want any of my pitchers actually pitching in it. Allow them the rest and enjoyment of the festivities without the risk of injury in a meaningless game.
With that said Yelich has earned his number to be up on the Wall of Fame, and all of our cheers as a fan base and he still has some big moments left.
Don’t be surprised if he goes into another roll for the franchise after playing days are done
He is however a case of what could have been if it wasn’t for an injury derailing a HOF trajectory career
Since then he has been streaky and a great late season player but below average playoff performer.
Lastly he is going to be with the team this year and likely next season unless he retires as trading him likely won’t happen and it would be hard to imagine designating him for assignment
Honest take about Yelich here
He is one of my favorite Brewers all time (I’m 29)
He was exactly what MIL needed when we got him and has been an incredible veteran presence, and community leader.
At one point he hit 6 HR in 4 straight games I attend in
@MatthewMKE98 Seems like a similar window those championship level Braves, Rays, & Royals teams had. While we have been really good the past 8 years if even half of those players including the young guys at the MLB level stay we could see a sustained level of success for another 10 years
