@fields1096 It is a bit concerning I won’t lie. Also gotta consider our next 2 games being very tough. An intriguing part of it is the fact we face the Sharks 2 more times this season, win those 2 matchups and we’re most likely in, lose them and it becomes difficult.
@Ade780 Man I’m excited to watch some Sabres Playoff hockey. The fans deserve it and I can’t lie, the team is really fun to watch. Good luck the rest of the way!
Not a terrible trade. Yea it costs a first but you have to consider the fact that the Oilers gain an additional $3.6M in cap for next season by offloading Mangiapane’s contract. Also, you never know Colton Dach could be moved with Howard in a bigger deal.
@NHL_Bouchard Incoming Savoie and Howard sign 2 year
$2M with the Blues and put up 60 points each. Nah all jokes aside this team is in a good spot. But I do agree, these regular season games become more fun to watch when the young skilled players are getting top 6 or top 9 minutes.
I really hope I’m wrong but I genuinely believe our best shot at winning was these past two runs. The roster really isn’t looking all that great. That Oilers team in 2023/24 had a great combination of young speed and steady veteran leadership.
I’ll be honest when the moves of Arvidsson and Skinner happened I was really happy with them. I was wrong. Obviously no one can predict the future but imagine Holloway 63 points, McLeod 53 points, Foegele 46 points for a combined $7.89M on this past years roster
@FriedgeHNIC Let’s be real here, the only factor isn’t tax. It’s the combination of playing for a winning team, living in a beautiful place, and tax. Point being, yes tax plays a role but it’s not the end all be all, there are other factors that honestly play a bigger role.
Is it possible that Sorokin gets moved? No idea what it would cost to get him or if Oilers even have the necessary pieces for it. I’m assuming it would start with a 1st and Savoie/Akey/O’Reilly assuming S.Skinner goes the other way in the deal for cap.
The Oilers have gotten out of much worse situations. It’s not over till a team gets 4 wins. Credit the Panthers, they are a really good team. Coming back won’t be easy but is definitely something this team is capable of. Hopefully they play how they played when down 3-0 last year
