Nick returns Monday for Part 2 with a little more neighborly wisdom, and his signature take on the benefits of going electric.
The growing used EV market is expanding affordable choices for drivers considering electric. ⚡
A recent Yahoo Autos analysis highlights an important shift: used EV prices are nearing parity with gas-powered vehicles, while more lower-cost EV options continue entering the market.
In March 2026 alone, 44% of used EVs sold were priced below $25,000, up from 39% just a few months prior — signaling growing accessibility for drivers looking to make the switch.
Affordability and choice remain key drivers of EV adoption. As more pre-owned EVs become available across price points and vehicle types, drivers have more opportunities to find an option that fits their lifestyle and budget.

The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) and Los Angeles County Internal Services Department (LACIS) announced a first-in-the-nation Bi-Coastal Fleet Accord (BCFA) — a partnership between two of the country’s largest municipal fleets designed to strengthen coordination around fleet electrification, charging infrastructure, procurement, and deployment planning. Together, the municipalities represent more than 47,000 fleet vehicles.
Beyond operational collaboration, the accord signals a more coordinated approach to municipal fleet electrification. DCAS and LACIS will work together to share technical specifications for vehicles and chargers to help inform more common standards that reflect municipal fleet needs, while also partnering with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Volpe Center on a joint Clean Fleet Transition Report aimed at identifying opportunities for cities nationwide to advance sustainable fleet operations.
At Veloz, we applaud the growing momentum in local government efforts that increase coordination and implementation of best practices across sectors and regions. Partnerships like this have the potential to help strengthen shared learning and create clearer pathways for long-term EV adoption — not only for municipal fleets, but also for the broader transportation ecosystem. ⚡

Illinois is pairing affordability with charging access — and there’s still time to benefit through May 31. ⚡
Earlier this year, the Illinois EPA extended its EV Rebate Program application window through May 31, 2026, with up to $4,000 available for low-income EV buyers and $14 million appropriated to help expand access to electric transportation.
At the same time, Illinois is laying important groundwork for long-term adoption. A new state law that took effect January 1 requires 40% of parking spaces in condominium and common interest communities to be EV-capable, helping expand residential charging access.
Efforts like these highlight an important part of the EV transition: pairing affordability with charging readiness to help reduce barriers to EV adoption. As more states explore pathways to broaden access, policies that address both cost and convenience will continue to play an important role in helping more drivers consider going electric.

Drivers hitting the road this Memorial Day weekend may want to keep an eye out. ⚡
Through our national consumer education campaign, Electric For All — The Way Forward Is Electric, Veloz has launched a series of roadside billboards in 16 markets across the country designed to spark curiosity at a timely moment: gas station-style signs displaying a simple message — $0.00 for gas.
Placed along high-traffic commuter and travel corridors during one of the busiest driving periods of the year, the activation taps into real consumer concerns about rising gas prices. For EV drivers, the cost of gas is $0.00 — and the billboards create a moment to consider what driving electric can look like in real life as fuel costs remain top of mind for many Americans this holiday weekend.
👀 Spot one in the wild? We want to see it! Head to @electricforall on Instagram to let us know where you found one, and to catch creator reactions and billboard sightings from across the country.

Earlier this month, Veloz Business Development Director Rosa Davies joined industry leaders at the New York State Office of General Services (NYS OGS) and The New York Power Authority's (NYPA) Fleet EVent in Albany, New York. She participated in the State of the EV Industry panel to discuss the progress, opportunities, and practical considerations shaping fleet electrification.
The discussion underscored a broader shift happening across transportation electrification: fleet adoption is becoming increasingly practical, with continued focus on thoughtful planning around charging standards, vehicle selection, and operational needs.
Panelists shared perspectives on how agencies are evaluating NACS and CCS compatibility, where battery electric vehicles (BEVs) versus plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) can best serve fleet needs, and the evolving conversation around emergency vehicle electrification.
Panelists included:
⚡ Rosa Davies — Business Development Director, Veloz
⚡ Keith Kerman — Deputy Commissioner of Fleet Management, New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS)
⚡ John Markowitz — Senior Director of e-Mobility, New York Power Authority (NYPA)
⚡ Adam Ruder — Director of Clean Transportation, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)
The panel also highlighted momentum already underway in New York, from the continued expansion of charging infrastructure through Evolve NY to incentive programs like NYSERDA’s Drive Clean Rebate Program and NYC DCAS’ leadership in advancing fleet electrification across vehicle types.
Thank you to NYS OGS and NYPA for convening leaders across sectors to share practical insights and continue advancing the conversation around transportation electrification.

Last week, Veloz brought together executive leadership from BYD America, Autel Energy, BP Pulse, and Lucid Motors for our latest Digital Dialogue — and the conversation delivered a deep dive into where high-powered charging and long-range EVs stand today and where they're headed next.
⚡ Consumer confidence in public fast charging requires that network operators partner with world-class maintenance and service companies.
⚡ By sharing how their real-world driving experiences are devoid of range and charging anxiety, EV drivers with long-range vehicles are increasing EV purchase consideration amongst their peers.
⚡ En-route charging to support all-electric fleets requires strategic coordination with local utility providers to successfully energize high-powered charging hubs.
⚡ As an industry, we should be striving to create an even better fueling and driving experience, rather than striving to replicate the gas car experience.
This Digital Dialogue was full of crucial information about the role of advancing technologies in im-proving consumer optimism as we continue driving toward our Electric For All goals. Don’t miss your opportunity to learn from these expert panelists.

The first quarter of 2026 was a challenging one for new EV sales in California, but a was a near-record one for national used EV sales.
Sales from the quarter added 63,461 new EVs, representing 15.7% of all new light-duty vehicle sales in the state.
The new EV sales numbers reflect a combination of factors, including an increase of new EV sales in the second half of 2025 due to Californians taking advantage of the federal tax credit before it expired, a decrease in overall new vehicle sales in Q1, and the growing uptake of used EVs.
Nationally, used EV sales grew 12% year-over-year, reflecting a market where more affordable options are reaching more buyers at a time when gas prices are soaring.
That growth in used EVs tracks with consumer sentiments. Veloz's message testing research found that EV consideration increased 12 points nationally and 16 points in California after exposure to messaging about savings, across every demographic and political affiliation.
With state and local agencies, along with utilities, across the country stepping up to fill the incentive gap left by the expiration of the federal tax credit, the conditions for continued EV growth — affordability, access, and consumer readiness — were all present in Q1 2026.
