California’s new $1B MDHD California Clean Fuel Reward is an important step for fleets trying to make zero-emission trucks pencil out in the real world. It’s also a reminder that continued Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund investment remains critical to keep momentum going.
CA’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard is delivering $1B in rebates for electric drayage trucks, semis, box trucks, delivery vans & more.

Don’t underestimate modest EV incentives. For many households, the question isn’t whether they want an EV. It’s whether they can make the math work right now. That gap is often small. Close it, and buyers move. At scale, those decisions matter. Read more:

CalETC Exec Director @renger_laura: California’s EV market needs steady footing at a moment when things could easily slip. This is why near-term state policy matters now. Because once momentum stalls, it’s not easy to restart. https://t.co/jxGGIKVzUG

450+ Rivians for the @CA_Trans_Agency fleet. That’s how our state leads by example. EVs produce 73% less life-cycle GHG emissions than gas vehicles—and when fleets electrify, the benefits add up fast. Great take from Josh D. Boone of @LetsVeloz! ⬇️

In this month's Ride to Zero Blog, VELOZ Executive Director Josh D. Boone ⚡️🚙 spotlights a powerful example of fleet electrification leadership and why it matters more than ever as the federal regulatory landscape continues to shift.
The California State Transportation Agency's recent investment in 453 Rivians for the Caltrans fleet is more than a procurement milestone. It's a proof point that cities and states have real tools at their disposal right now to advance transportation electrification through proactive leadership.
And the impact adds up fast. According to recent research from the The International Council on Clean Transportation, today's EVs produce 73% less life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions than gas vehicles.
When entire fleets make the switch, that reduction happens quickly.
Fleet electrification is also a smart fiscal move:
- Fleets rack up more daily miles than the average consumer, multiplying fuel savings across every vehicle
- Lower maintenance costs add up even faster in fleets
- States and cities can act now, without waiting on federal policy
From California to New York, to New Jersey, state and local leaders are showing what's possible. Veloz is proud to bring the industry together to support that momentum.

A new post by Josh D. Boone of @LetsVeloz highlights data showing that consumers need clear, practical information about everyday benefits to make the switch to EVs—less maintenance, home charging, 300-plus miles of range, and real savings. So let's get the message out!
In today's Ride to Zero Blog, Veloz Executive Director Josh D. Boone discusses our latest national survey, which highlights a critical point: exposure to clear, practical information significantly increases consumer interest in EVs.
How we message EV benefits matters. When EV conversations focus on real-world impacts rather than abstract policy debates, consumer interest grows.
According to the survey, these are some of the most motivating EV messages:
- EVs require less maintenance – you will never have to change your oil or get a tune-up.
- Charge your EV at home while you sleep using a standard home outlet without extra equipment.
- Today’s EVs have 300+ miles of range, as much as an average gas car.
- Skipping the gas station saves drivers up to $2,000 per year and up to $10,000 over the life of the car
The results of our survey underscore that consumers and decision makers are two sides of the same coin. Consumers need clear, practical information to make confident choices. Decision makers need credible data and strategic context to create the consumer demand conditions that make those choices possible.
