So Bruno Guimarães is leaving Newcastle.

He leaves a legend, and I wish him well. But this is the reality of football.

Kiss the badge, fight for the shirt, talk about your love for the club and being at home. Then a better opportunity comes with more money, and all of that stops existing. And we’d all do the same in his position.

I think I actually learned this during the Ashley era. When everything about the club felt broken, you realised what football actually is.

It’s the city. It’s family. The pints with my dad and cousins pre match. The post match chats in the pub.

The players are actors in a scene, and the scene changes. But the club, the city, the people, they stand.
