@vedabenerabilis I think @paleomauser makes a solid point … if it’s true (no reason to assume it isn’t) , I can see AALC truly saying “we did zero wrong”.
No lie …
The pompous attitude of leaders in my tradition … truly makes me wonder if this … is a waste of my time
If yall truly think a pastor being bi-vocational is so bad …. & you would rather a church close
Then we have fundamental differences about ministry
@timesnewemma Many don’t. But many seminary leaders & professors feel otherwise & have stated so.
As far as formation there are things they do to account for that. But in person definitely has its advantage with that
@Lex_Lutheran Agreed! Especially in post Christian regions or countries like where I live in Canada, pretty much all the pastors I know in my region are bi vocational or dual parish out of necessity.
Such as my own pastor who is also the pastor of a Korean speaking congregation.
@brownmp@WmWeedon My fault…
I’m on the thread & a name that looks strikingly similiar to yours is in the reply.
So ur take about bi-vocational is based on ur local setting with a multitude of lutheran churches. When a large portion of the bi-vocational convo is not about this setting.
@ion_eyes@PastorBowman Imo that them scapegoating the saints & not looking at it fairly.
If it’s a small congregation, it’s not fair to say “give more u lack faith”. Thats the prosperity gospel remixed.
If a man is willing to take on an extra burden of a job while serving …. It s/b appreciated
@EvanSus96@DrJordanBCooper@WmWeedon@brownmp But thanks for ur words.
I talk to many. And they state … it’s no Lutheran church within 50 to 80 miles or more.
It’s jus hard to swallow these convos from my lens
@EvanSus96@DrJordanBCooper@WmWeedon@brownmp Thanks.
I may not finish tbh. Knowing all the hard work that the easy route (as some ppl of importance state) takes, the view of my own in regards to …. Smh
I went to koinea conference. Not a fan Zac & Alhmans view … but to see the seminaries views. Disheartening
@PastorBowman@ion_eyes That’s my understanding.
But now I’m seeing post from ppl proclaiming being by bivocational is aganist scripture 1 cor 9:14
It’s as if they would rather churches close & ppl go without the gospel than a notion of bi vocational.
