@ElusiveRural Open carry at schools is so baffling as an advocacy tactic— they really have no idea how much this kind of stunt pushes regular people, even other gun owners, to oppose them. https://t.co/bSThb6yYpT
@AlexPorrett@jonathanoosting It’s also how they catch people who not only registered in two states (not really illegal) but voted twice (very illegal). That happens more frequently than non-citizen voting and it’s often rich Republicans who register at their vacation homes.
@AlexPorrett@jonathanoosting MI constitution says voters can register same day and student ID is valid. Secret ballot means votes once cast are anonymous. But after registration, the QVF is regularly compared to federal and cross-state databases. This is how rare noncitizen voters get caught and prosecuted.
"Among children born during 1994–2023, routine childhood vaccinations will have prevented approximately 508 million cases of illness, 32 million hospitalizations, and 1,129,000 deaths, resulting in direct savings of $540 billion and societal savings of $2.7 trillion."
VP Harris's proposal to add an at-home care benefit to Medicare hit home for this Gen Xer. Making it happen won't be easy. But she opened up a long overdue conversation on an issue that affects so many. My latest @opinion (gift link):

@JakeLahut@WIRED If these workers were misclassified as contractors when actually they are temp employees, anyone with knowledge of it could report it to MI UIA at 1-855-484-2636. Employees have rights under wage/hour and MIOSHA safety rules. https://t.co/vYh9Q8sL4r
@anthropolitburo Andean norms of reciprocity and complementarity have long been used to mask and justify hierarchy. The Inka were great at it— passing off mit’a as ayni. Romantics are fooled because they don’t look at what’s happening in practice.
@PanickedFoodie If you are on Social Security disability for 2 years you qualify for Medicare regardless of age (and often for Medicaid too). People with end stage kidney disease or ALS also qualify for Medicare before age 65. But it still wouldn’t cover everyone who needs home help.
@SawyerBlatz@TheOnion More from @TheOnion on the 2000 election. These jokes only worked because Americans thought of election violence as something that happens in other places. https://t.co/zaIqAaWjvO
@SawyerBlatz This is not how it was a generation ago. Elections were considered so routine that when Bush/Gore results were first unavailable, @TheOnion joked that there was chaos in the streets and people thought it was funny because the idea was so absurd https://t.co/5Kiq7yEsbd
@2Beardz@michael_hoerger It is very hard to find a provider for covid vaccines for kids under 5. Even harder for toddlers and infants. You could try this crowd-sourced child covid vaccine provider spreadsheet. https://t.co/rkqKQD9e0d
