Very happy to announce my commitment to South Dakota State University. Thank you to all that have supported me throughout my academic and athletic career. @CoachRyanOlson@HolyNutmeg
It’s all doable, and has been done by many. So if you’re an athlete— don’t make excuses— HOWEVER, if you’re a coach, don’t forget how much you need to consider at it pertains to a student athletes balance. It’s what makes them unique, but what requires your EMpathy to best coach.
In all of this student-athletes are balancing fluctuating schedules with practice/camps/games, testing, school events, and then at home schedules based on their own home life / family dynamic (ie taking care of siblings, family vacations, etc) 2/3
Being an athlete, especially a student-athlete requires balance between many different aspects: physical preparation, skill development, academic upkeep, nutritional consistency, and THEN regular life underneath it all. It’s a lot, but it’s a habit that becomes a lifestyle. 1/3
